I needed some extra storage for my PS4 Pro, as 1 TB went quick and I was sick of swapping out installations of games. This external HDD was as simply as unboxing, plugging in, and formatting for the PS4 when prompted. Now all my games to to the external, and I don't have to worry about space!

8 big fat terabytes of space. Let me say that again... 8 freaking terabytes and what used to bust your bank account is now $149.99 at your neighborhood Best Buy. I fdisk’d and partitioned off half and left the rest unallocated for now. This is easily the best Christmas gift I have to myself.

I have several of these. They're reliable. This one is particularly high capacity. The only downsides are its physical size and the fact that it requires an external power source. I prefer drives that are USB powered. It works great though.

The external 8TB drive itself is great! My experience with Western Digital left me wondering how they ever made it in business. How so? There are no actual directions of any sort with their product so off to the WD website where it appears that you have access to 3 things -- drive utilities, drive "software", and what I was after, a backup utility. What happens next is classic -- the backup software is labelled "No longer supported, use this other one (not by WD)," then the software packaged for the drive has some features and functions -- none having anything to do with this particular model. I ended up simply prepping and formatting the unit with Windows and running a 3rd party backup application. Much looking at the WD website gave me the distinct impression that this company has no clue about customers or how to package effective support material for their products -- there are various cute and clever names attached to one series or another of their products and that's about it. I left the site thankful that they have an engineering department that is on top of the game -- their storage devices are the best and glad that I don't need any exposure to the rest of the company -- what a disaster (imho).

when they are on sale at 139.97 a drive for 8tb of storage its hard to beat you can shuck the case (remove the drive from the case) and install these in a nas system or just plug them in via usb3 i've bought a total of 8 and will probably buy 8 more before its over

Easy plug and play! Just connect via USB and it's ready to use. Data speed is very good in my opinion.

This is easy to use. It was used to take information and pictures from old computers. It worked great.

Not sure what to say. It does exactly what it claims, with no issues and no fuss. No reason to worry.
