I have used WB Easystore external HDs as backups for about 6 or 7 years now - and I've never had one fail yet. I also use the drives to work off from making video content, with hundreds of gigs of info going back and forth, with no problems whatsoever. A highly recommended workhorse of a drive.

Good price, good performance, reliable brand. Not much more to say about the drive. The same rule applies to ALL backup drives... Make sure you do a healthcheck on the drive before you "use it". The scan will take 10+ hours. I ended up using a free tool I found on WD's website.

For the sale price these drives can't be beat. More reliable than the sea brand and for those interested inside are Red model drives which if purchased as an internal are $100 more. Yes, the warranty is 1 year less than internal drives but for $100 it's worth it IMO. They aren't the fastest 8tb drives but they run cooler and that helps lend to a longer life span.

Easy plug and play, external powered, USB harddrive. If you want on site external data storage this is pretty much everything you could ask for. Also good if you want to transfer data between computers without the need for cloud storage.

I have used the EasyStore external HD for two years now and it has been very useful to have instant access to backed up files. It turns on and off and disconnects easily which helps prevent data loss which I have had happen with smaller external drives. I recommend it highly.

It's an 8 TB external hard drive. Good speed and great capacity, never thought I would need so much space but with 5 TB of Videos, Audio & Data you do need it. Real easy setup, just plug into a usb 3 port, let the PC identify the drive and start copying.

A good basic external HD. I formatted it to work with my Mac, and it only took 5 minutes from the time I opened the box to the time it was set up and ready to go. If you’re looking for a good, simple external HD at a great value, this is it!

Best Buy Deal of the Day had this device for an unbelievable price-- I think it was less than half the cost of the bulk OEM same-drive-in-a-bag. I am sure that the software and housing work great, but I shucked-out the drive for use in a server. It was easy.

Easystore drives are performing very well, so far. Using them for music collection and backup. Grduated from 2 TB drives to the 8 TBB to insure enough room for collection.

Got it on sale making it a solid deal. Mine has been running in the enclosure for almost a year now. I do use an 80mm USB fan to help pull warm air through the enclosure. A cool hard drive is a happy hard drive. Or something like that.

Well constucted external usb drive. Write true read write usb around 86 mbs. Not terrible for a usb external drive. Easy enough to open and turn to an internal drive for better performance. Like all hard drives, you will pay a premium thanks to chia

Good external storage. Large enough it should handle most peoples needs. USB 3.0 much faster than older drives I have had. Was able to back up files from 4 different computers, including a lot of large video files and still haven't used 50% of the capacity.

I've been a long time fan of Western Digital hard drives for their reliability, and this is another accessory winner for my devices. Great reliable storage and competitively priced. As long as you are careful with this product, it will last for years.

Let's face it, we're all collecting more and more data each day. Music. Photos. Documents. Etc... It adds up fast and your good day will turn bad really fast in the event of a hard drive failure. It's happened to me a few times in the last 20+ years. Why not back up all of those important documents, photos or songs? I don't use it myself, but this WD HDD comes with free backup software that knows when something is new or changed and backs up according to a pre-set schedule. This way it's not trying to backup everything every single time the backup software runs. It's incredibly easy to setup, so don't be worried if "back ups" are new to you. The WD Software is very basic and easy to use - for me it's too basic, but that's me. Oh, being USB 3.0 also means it's going to be a lot faster at transferring data than your old 1TB External HDD that you purchased in 2008. I'm a serious data horder with a computer rack of equipment in my house you wouldn't believe. My main system is RAID (a type of backup for lack of a better explanation in this review), but I still prefer to keep external backups as well. After this purchase, I now own 6 of these 8TB HDDs. Normally, the price is $20-$30 higher on Amazon. This was a GREAT deal from Best Buy. Oh, if you think you don't NEED 8TB of storage, think again. You might not need it 'today', but you will need it at some point and if you do a breakdown of the price per Gigabyte of this 8TB HDD and other 6TB & 4TB HDDs you'll see you're getting more bang for your buck. Finally, if you have multiple computers you can setup a network share (it's a lot easier than it sounds with Windows) and use this 8TB HDD to backup your home desktop PC and even the kids laptops without moving the HDD back and forth between computers. This isn't the fastest way to do things, but it is possible if you're on a budget.
