I bought this to extend the storage, and backup my laptop PC, which is a few years old. Even with USB 2.0 ports, file transfers are fast, and 8 TB is over 8x my hd space, so it's worked great for that. But I can't get my Sony Blu Ray player and the 8 TB mini-tower to connect, so it doesn't work for watching movies with my older Sony TV or Blu Ray. Took off one star for that. Still satisfied with product.

Cheapest 8TB drive you can buy along with western digital quality, can’t be beat.

I have purchased a number of these drives and all of them have been quiet and with the large size it can fit a lot of my photos. I make sure to have off-site backup as well just to prevent data loss since all hard drives will eventually fail.

More than enough room for 9k photos. I use this to back up & store all of my work!

As I’m sure you might have known, these are the external hard drives that have WD Red NAS drives inside them. Apparently they aren’t guaranteed, but I have now purchased 4 and all of them did. Very easy to pull off enclosure, just look on YouTube.

I purchased a number of these drives over the past 12 months for my network. These drives are a great value ($/TB). The USB 3.0 is great for fast and large file transfers if you do not intend on shucking the drive and using it as an internal.

This is a very good price for an 8TB WD Drive. It works well and is fairly fast.

This was purchased as a replacement to a 6TB WD external drive that I use as a Time Machine for my Mac. After two years on that old unit, it started to give me trouble -- finally, six months later, it died. I don't like spending money on what is, essentially, a 2-year lease for a hard drive, but I have to have a backup. Let's hope the last one was a fluke and this one works out for a few more years.

This Western Digital Hard Drive is great quality and bought it at a great price.

High capacity, fast, reliable drive. One user wrote about possible overheat issue. Mine did not over heat, but I added a small fan at lowest speed to the location where 4 external HDs are located, and all of them feels quite cool.

I own several Western Digital drives. This 8TB high capacity model was reasonably priced and worth the investment. Plugged in and started backing up multiple drives with business info immediately using Time Machine on my MacBook Pro. Highly recommend!
