I didn't eve opened. I just purchased because I want it for my PS5 but Geek Squad indicated that will not work with it. I have to wait for a PS5 version.

Device is pretty straightforward-- I plugged it in my PS4 and just a few tweaks to settings to automatically place my applications in there. Now I have extra storage on my PS4 for more games and applications and it is safely placed on top of my console. I have not tried attaching it and signing into another PS4 to see if it will work. I have yet to find another PS4 to use. But just for my main console use, I have now extra 2TB of storage on my PS4 Pro! Easy to connect!

its really hit or miss with WD products. some have lasted a lot and others break too soon.

With games like Red Dead Redemption 2 taking up most of the space in your bare bones console, if you don't want to crack open your PS4 to install a new harddrive, this is your next best option. Works pretty flawlessly. Connect to your PS4 or Xbox One and set it up as an external hard drive source for your games. I've used my fair share of external hard drives like this in the past and you can't really get better than Western Digital so if this drive fits your budget and you need space for the next Red Dead Redemption 2 sized game, definitely pick this up.

This device is slim, compact, and works exactly like advertised. Setup is a snap. Just plug it in and go through the setup steps. Saving your games to the drive allows for easy transportability so you can take your downloaded games to a friends house. We love this drive.

Western Digital aims this drive at the PS4 gamer. While one can easily use this for PC and laptop external storage, its BLUE rubber bottom and shiny black top case, can be quickly formatted for the PS4. Madet for taking our video game box back and forth (mom and dad to friends, grandpa's house) without losing your place in the game. I first tested it as a standard Windows NTFS drive to checks it speed. Worked great! The WD drive is powered through the high speed USB cable included. No external power cube needed! Easy to stow in the backpack at less than 1/2 a pound in weight, it's also super thin and rugged. I will likely need to buy another for my other grandson. Great gift for the teenage grandkids!

Been testing out the WD Gaming Drive for the last couple of weeks and I must say that I love it better than I thought I would. Very simple and easy to use. Inside the package was the hard drive itself along with the usb cable to plug into the back of my PS4. Once connected the drive must be correctly formatted before you're allowed to save anything to it. That process was quick and easy. I've been able to save a few games and wallpapers to the 2TB drive with plenty of space left to fill it up with. Great portability to save games/info to be played on other PS4 systems. I recommend this WD Gaming Drive to anyone looking to save gaming info, wallpapers, etc and because its easy to travel with.

Due to PlayStation games being so heavy on graphics they tend to be massive in size. Even after upgrading my internal drive to 2Tb I was surprised how fast I was still filling it up. This external HD is a great addition because you can store games you don't play that often or if you have completely used all of your internal space it is an easy way to give you more space rather than having to try and install an internal. I only have two downfalls to the drive. One is that if you leave your PS4 in standby, then the drive will stay powered unless you unplug it. The other downfall is that it uses a USB and since the PS4 only has two USBs it only leaves you with one. Usually, I use one USB for charging controller, one for headset, and this would take up a third. I supposed you can mitigate this by getting a USB expansion. Two other long-term thing I am worried about but do not have evidence to back up yet is that if it is constantly being powered it might end up breaking eventually, or it could possibly slow down due to being a spinning disk. Overall, I believe this is a great addition to the PS4 and anyone who plans on playing a lot of games will eventually need to expand their storage.

When it comes to hard drives whether portable on hard wired, there's one brand that stands head and shoulders above the rest. WD! This plug and play drive is great for backing up data, extra space for gaming, or what I've used mine for, copying my lawfully purchased movies to friends homes to watch. Installing is as simple as open box, plug in the included USB cable and DONE. Can't go wrong with WD.

Great external drive that can hold a lot of PS4 and PS5 games.

Just plug into the PS4 USB on the front, ensure the storage is seen by the PS4 and have fun downloading all your free games from PS Plus! Good load speed and ease of use make this a no-brainer. About the size of a small wallet or cigarette pack, it packs in the 2TB drive and just does it's job. I even used it to move many games and apps from my PS4's memory to free it up. An excellent buy!

Other than matching my PS4 Slim with the black and blue coloring, this 2 TB drive is basically just like any other USB 3.0 drive. Worked fine out of the box, formatted quickly, and away I went transferring most of the game data that filled the original internal hard drive. Very happy with it (as expected).

The 2tb drive provides ample storage for most applications you can think up and had acceptable read and write times when connect via usb 3.0 port. What makes this a "gaming" drive is that it's formatted using an uncommon disk type that is compatible with ps4. I didn't know that ahead of time, I thought it had to do with read/write as I use it with my Xbox and windows machines. The storage was still good enough to back up two laptops and my Xbox with out a problem once I reformatted the drive. The enclosure itself seems"cool" and durable enough to transport around with injury to your precious files

I got a ton of games and this works perfectly as a backup drive/additional storage. Easy to install, fair,y quick load times. Overall a really good little unit.

It was awesome worked really well but it messed up my ps5 when I unplugged it, it took the usb slot Now instead of 2 my ps5 only has 1 usb slot. Photos coming soon*

the best decision very late because I deleted like 100 games until I finally decided to buy it I recommend it now i have a lot of space for other games

I've had this thing gor almost three years an never had an issue with it. Definitely recommend.

I was test driving Sling's DVR functions where you can record over the air channels with a local HDD attached to your device. I wasn't sure if I wanted the AirTV or AirTV Player so was playing with both. Note that this drive worked with the latter (player), but not the base AirTV. I like this drive as it was simple, had no bloatware, and has little rubber feet.

I’ve had this external hard drive for a few years now and had no issues until this year. Like other negative reviews have said, this thing will crap out very easily and corrupts all your game files. Despite having never unplugging this from the PS4, it seems to disconnect itself in the middle of gaming. Extremely frustrating to have games crash randomly all the time!! Don’t waste your money, please just buy literally any other external hard drive.
