WD Gaming drive is an external storage space that provides a 1TB of storage for you to take on the go. This unit is compatable with ps4 systems as long as you have the latest update. This unit was tested on a ps4 pro so hopefully this will help with your buying decision. The WD Gaming drive hooks up via your usb ports. Once hooked the ps4 will prompt you to format your device automatically. If you chose not to format your external drive you will then need to manually transfer your files to your external storage unit. Once the device is formatted all downloaded digital games will be stored to this. It will only store the digital game and not the actual save files for the game. This is actually a really good feature that i like the reason being is due to the fact that external hard drives have moving parts and are more susceptible to failure vs solid state or internal drives which have no moving parts. This means if for any reason your device fails all your going to lose is the actual game file and not your game progress. So all you would have to do is re-download the game and pick back up from where you last started. Nothing is worse than watching your hard drive crash and have it take down your game progress with it. One thing about external hard drives to note is that they used to be really noisy. The WD external drive is very quite to the point to where it can't be heard unless you put your ear up to the unit itself. This is a pretty cut and dry unit that allows you to upgrade your storage without having to take apart the ps4. It takes a matter of seconds to get it set up. And while external hard drives may fail faster than SSDs, WD is a company that makes really reliable gaming hard drives. While time will be the real test for the quality of this unit i have no doubt it will last quite awhile for the simple fact that it is made by WD. At this price and how easy it is to set up you really can't go wrong. If your the type of person like me, who doesn't like to buy hard copies but would rather have a digital library then this is the way to go. What makes it nice is you can download your games to the external hard drive then lend it to a buddy to upload and play whatever games you may have. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up, you won't be disappointed.

Bought this drive to use as a back up for my PC. Had to format to be able to use for this purpose since it is intended for game console use. Works perfectly for back up with excellent transfer speeds using USB 3.0. Nice small footprint but the cable supplied not long enough for my purpose. I would purchase it again without question.

Always need more storage and this gaming drive runs fast

I had looked at getting something like this before. I kept running out of room on my old drive and I was told the external drives were great for storage but you could not really run games off of them. Well that is not true. I play games that I have downloaded to this drive and they work flawlessly. I am very happy with this purchase

The price was right as was the size. I re-formatted it for Mac and it became a TimeMachine backup drive. Works fine. Maybe they think the "Gaming" moniker helps for marketing. :D

It works exactly as it says it does, I bought this one originally for my PS4 pro and then after getting a PS5 I now use it with it. Even decided to buy a second one, so I can have one for both consoles.

I bought this Hard drive for my PS4. I have 10 games and could only play 3 or so. This product freed up my storage and now I can enjoy all of my games. I am glad I bought this hard drive. My only complaint is the price, but you get what you pay for. I am satisfied.

Very good for extra space on my ps5. It works great and you can play right while it's connected.

Its awesome, I have more then enough space. I have 30 games on the drive and still have space on the drive for another 30+ . I have common games like horizon zero dawn, farcry 5 and farcry newdawn, and other heavy games. I recomend the 2tb hard drive for any ps4 owner.

Great portable hard drive to carry around. I’m not much into the cloud services but certain files I need to have with me. Incan download my files here and there always with me. Works perfect for my needs.

The drive in PS4 (varies but generally) is likely to run out of space This is a nice, easy, reliable solution. I have not attempted to measure the devices speed - so I am not sure whether Gamin Drive implies performance or marketing, but I've had no issues.

This is an awesome external drive for my digital Xbox. It was extremely easy to set up and loads my games pretty fast on the console. I was surprised at the ease of set up. I would buy another if needed. Great investment.

This drive did what i needed it to do for my PlayStation, pretty fast but there are slightly cheaper alternatives elsewhere. Just know that you don't need a "GAMING" drive to use with your console, it just has to be an external. The only difference might be speed.
