It's okay but can be enhanced.

The option to access my information from anywhere is great. However, it would be better if there was a USB connection in addition to the Ethernet cable connection option. Also, the upload speed of movie files is slower than I expected even when connected directly to my computer.

I use this to back up my home network. It works great and allowed me to get some important files off my dying computer before it was too late

I love it. Takes a while to set up but it's great for sharing files. And it showed up on my Samsung SmartTV input selection so I can stream anything on the cloud to my TV.

I like the idea of HDD backup and hooking up to wireless router. Did not play with it well to know the performance over network etc.. Returned it as it does not have USB copy support.. I wish these new Cloud HDD can be connected to a device with USB (for immediate transfer of larget files) and also can hook up to a router

I have a pair of the WD 4TB My Clouds sitting next to each other on top of my PC. They are connected to my home gigabit network and supply music and video to the entire home. One is a backup of the other so I don't worry about data loss (not that I am worried to begin with). I sync them pretty regularly so my audio/video collection is safe and sound. I have used other non-WD devices to attempt the same but with nowhere near the ease and reliability. Love these guys!

After losing a lot of my files on my old computer that crashed, I moved everything to external drives. This was my first attempt and building a home network. Very easy to install and set up working off your router. It even works if you are using a cable router.

I had to keep adding to The Cloud for more storage, so it so wonderful now that I have "My very own Cloud." I got the largest I could buy, and it will probably last me a lifetime. Love it!

Great value for the price. Lots of good reviews and "how to use & set up" available on Utube on this product. I now have plenty of storage for my all my file which I can access from anywhere.

Likes: good amount of storage, ability to connect a backup drive, compatability across various devices; streaming Dislikes: slow startup at times; poor ability to handle large amounts of data transfer. Gets the job done for basic home needs.

I have several computers in the house and needed a basic media server for TV Shows, Movies and Music. Transferring data from one hard drive to this new NAS drive was easy and required little to no work on my part. Transferring data from my computer's hard drive was painstakingly slow (mainly the fault of my internet connection, not the device) and I wish there was a method of transferring from computer to NAS drive via USB, but the literature I read indicated this wasn't possible. Once all of my old data was on the new hard drive, it was time to rebuild my itunes library. I have over 4000 albums, so I was prepared for this to take a while. Just opening the folder containing music (and separate folders for each and every album) took a few minutes to load. Moving the files back to itunes was a nightmare and would occasionally make my computer freeze up. I found out that the problem was having the DNLA media server turned on, because the device was constantly scanning my media files (as soon as a scan would finish, another one would start). After turning this option off, the folders loaded faster and the library repopulated without much difficulty. It took me about a week to set everything up, but since then there have been no problems. Streaming audio and video is perfect with very little lag. It seems like this drive is the best option out right now, but there is definitely room for improvement.

This personal cloud exceeds my expectations in terms of throughput and accessibility. This is a plug and play cloud. I had no troubleshooting to perform just plugged it in and went for it. There are caveats to utilizing this device if you have a metered data plan as I do. When enabling UPnP on your router, it allows the cloud to advertise to your app and other devices. This advertising costs data which is very relevant to a metered connection but of no consequence to the wired broadband user (comcast, cox, fios, etc.).

This item was easy to attached to the network. and set up. The capacity is very effective and effecient for maintaining backups and digital media collections. With the use of the WD Discovery program/app has made it easier to setup as a network storage drive to the PC. This device is used in conjunction with the WD TV live player. The time to add as a media library took some manual set up but works without errors. Have yet to test with Iphone applications.

Did not live up to expectations. I evidently did not do enough research on what it does. May be great for games and movies but not very good for backups and slow to transfer and see files. Was using for a massive photo storage that would be accessible. .

Works better than I expected. I'm using this NAS hard drive to hold my videos/music files and is working great with PLEX media server. Looking to buy another one to replace one of my USB 3.0 drives that always seems to drop out with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent for storing photos to share with friends and family. Takes some extra help with setting up your home network to allow remote access but once you have it set, it works great.

It was easy to set up and very convenient to use. I really like being able access my files wireless from anywhere. The desktop app is a bit archaic in its user interface, however using the website looks and works great when you're not near the device. I wish I could drag and drop entire folders of data over internet like I can when nearby the device at home. Price is great. Beats Walmarts price by $50 at least.
