Kind of hard to set up- the directions were not good at all. Still learning the ropes, but once your stuff gets loaded (which takes a Looooong time) it works great!

Good Back Up Disk, but a Little Clunky

Bought this disk to use as family cloud storage alternative. The set up was easy and hooking up my devices to back up our files, pictures and videos was a snap. the only hitch was when you try to add more material to the existing files on the disk, you sometimes get a error that the disk is fuil on your computer??? Still trying to figure this problem out, but toherwise it has worked flawlessly.

I didn’t expect much, I knew I needed a larger storage disk and after doing some research I decided on buying this instead of attaching a drive to my router like I had been doing. I couldn’t be more pleased with the product and its features including your own 4TB cloud service!

Great way to access your files and keep them local. Only negative is thumbnails are too small when searching for photos.

I purchased this device on the recommendation of Geek Squad because i wanted automated non-cloud back-up. The device came with no instructions and the website is impenetrable. So I installed incorrectly. I called their support number and found it closed over the weekend, despite a message that said they are available 24/7. Eventually it got so bad i wrote to the company and detailed all the problems. One of their technicians called me and spent an hour over the phone to install (I think) correctly. The product requires more than one interface; the path to the backed up files is non-intuitive and the company really needs to get its act together. I would have had Geek Squad help me except that that would require them to do a house call. After all, this is a consumer product (or at least is sold at Best Buy so is positioned as such). So i am going to say "Not recommended" because of the installation problems.

I am not a computer person. It took a bit to set it up and a long time to load my 19,000 photos/videos. not sure how to delete the ones I don't want. Very great though to have my computer info available on my phone when not home. I need to watch some videos to learn how to set up folders etc. A work in progress.

With two adults and 2 kids we needed a system to store our pictures and music yet everyone could access. This does it all. The apps are great and we can access from anywhere.

I consider it a big solution on a little box. My iPhone started getting out of memory almost at the same time my wife's Samsung was getting out of memory. Neither of us wanted to pay for cloud services nor to erase our little one pictures. We decided to give a tray to MyCloud, and we started using it also for documents we share. It was been an excellent acquisition. If you are thinking on buying it; my only suggestion will be to take a look for the one that has 2 drives and to use the second as mirroring (also WD - MyCloud). It is a little bit more expensive, but it has mirroring capability, which this one does not have.

It was easy to install, but copying a lot of data to it took a really long time. Other than that, the performance is great. Use it as a Media storage device for streaming to various devices.

This took a few tries to successfully set up on a windows 10 machine. I still have not been able to access the drive on a XP system. Apps for iPhone/iPad work well although I have had some issues with other people accessing files. All told though, the drive works well and is fast to upload/download files to. The apps make it easy to save where you want files to go to

Pros- Easy setup for those familiar with technology. App for phones and tablets is decent. Cons- No instructions in box. Have to follow online setup and figure it out for yourself and the help tools. Those unfamiliar with technology will be frustrated. Long upload times when transferring photos, but that is to be expected. Again, that will be frustrating to some.

I'm not going to say anything wrong about the product just because I don't completely understand how to operate the system but I'm getting in there. One thing about it is that so far I have all my files in one place and my computer is backed up and secure. Another thing is that customer service is very good and that is something that I value the most in a product.

The Western Digital MyCloud was easy to set-up - basically, just plug it into the router and it's ready to go. Time Machine integration was simple and the auto back-ups are working flawlessly. My only complaint is that the documentation is pretty skimpy and I found it difficult to access the dashboard after the initial setup. All in all, a very good product.

I'm a tech guy and this thing works just fine. I'm using rsync to get data to it, that way I can put it at a friend's house and have a "disaster recovery" site for my music, pictures and home movies. I'm testing it with a simple script on my Mac and it works fine. It's a keeper.

After losing countless pictures and videos to hard drive crashes I decided to try out a NAS cloud. I have it set up with everyone in the family so that phones will automatically send/back up pictures taken. pictures on the computer can also be backed up manually. So far it has been easy to use and access but it has only been about a month or two so time will tell.
