Excellent Brand! The Best if you want to a fast HD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works perfectly. Ultra fast to process files and move them outside and inside the unit. The best brand out there definitely.

Difficult to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have limited IT literacy but have set up my own computers and other hardware. I have not been able to configure this device appropriately In their defense the manufacturer has offered phone assistance but I have not had the time to call them

Better then expected...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Allows access to all your data....music, photos, files, etc from pads, desktops, and smart phones even over wifi when your not at home giving you remote access. Takes a little time transferring all data over and reccomend connect main desktop direct with supplied cable for mass transfer as is a lot faster than wifi upload.

So far, not very impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Working as a photographer, I needed a new hard drive and thought a Cloud based drive would be great. The idea of being able to access my files no matter where I'm working lead me to purchase this My Cloud unit. I have to preference my review by saying this was the first Western Digital product I've bought in a long time after two back to back drive failures. I should have known right away that I was going to have issues with the My Cloud drive. Set up instructions were pretty much non existent and instructions on how to use the drive even worse. Finally got things set up, and started uploading files. Have to say that the transfers via WD Access are pretty fast. That is about as good as this review is going to get. The interface is lame. Seriously lame. And even worse, I can't access most of my images from the web if I'm not at home where the drive is. They show up in thumbnail mode, but you can't download from that view. In the list view, only 30-40 files show up, that's it. Hundreds of images in a folder and you can see the first 30 or so and that is it. From home, all the files are there. Tech support is about worthless. I would NOT suggest the WD MY Cloud to anyone.

Decent Personal Cloud
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is pretty easy to setup for multiple user access, less easy to setup for NAS use, as the ability to map as a standard network drive is no longer an easy setup.

Samsung Smart TV also displays content.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the fact that my Samsung Smart TV also displays content. Still haven't worked out how to consolidate all my old external hard drives (photos, videos, music, etc.)

Really slow, Crashes frequently.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the WD My cloud on a Sunday and began to copy my data over using the WD utility installed on my computer. I started the file transfer before i went to bed and planned on waking up in the morning and having all my data copied. I woke up and found out that the WD my cloud had lost connection with my computer overnight and the file transfer did not complete. I had both the My cloud and my computer wired Ethernet through my router so there was no chance to drop connection due to wireless. I next tried adding the WD my cloud as a network drive and begin a simple copy transfer doing it in small chunks. This took all day with lots of monitoring. I only had a little over 1tb of data to transfer over. This time the My Cloud Froze completely and I could not access the web GUI. I had to unplug the My Cloud and reset it. After messing with it for a couple days i finally get all my data copied over and I begin to use the website to access the My Cloud remotely. Navigating through the UI is very slow. Shortly after trying to upload some files the My Cloud froze again and I could not access it remotely. I returned the thing to the store the following Thursday and in the matter of 4 days it crashed at least 4 times.

So far so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this for a few weeks now. It took a little while to get it set up but so far it's working well. It is a little slow but that's really the router, not the hard drive.

Forces you to use proprietary WD services
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HD is solid, performance is good, price is right. That being said, all I really wanted was a NAS that I could add to my network and open up via a port or VPN. This fails in both regards. WD wants you to sign up for their "mycloud" service to even use the basic functions of the device. The heck if I'm going to make my employees sign up for a freaking cloud service administrated by WD just to use our NAS drive. Thanks, but I'll roll my own.

Great network drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased one for home and love it. It's fast and reliable. The network share works perfectly. We also purchase several for work. We have one setup to automatically receive backup copies of all our work files. And 2 we swap out weekly with additional backups. And one every month to keep an archived copy. They work great!

Easy to use, questionable reliability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed this while it lasted. Unfortunately, it stopped working after about 3 months without warning or explanation. About to send back to mfg for a replacement. When backing up important files, don't let this be your only copy.

Great backup solution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive to replace a Seagate GoFlex that somehow got corrupted, and for which Seagate's customer support was abysmal. This WD was very easy to set and get working, and I have no problems accessing it from multiple MacBookPros and a Windows PC. I also appreciate the clean and attractive design of WD drives.
