Was easy to set up from web portal. Fast transfer over WiFi 6 mesh connection for laptop to ethernet-connected NAS. Great for backups. Limited app selection for NAS server projects. Great for the price.

I have nothing but good things to say about this NAS drive. Very smooth operation when working with files directly from the drive. Does not freeze up your file explorer and apps like some clunky drives do (specifically the SanDisk G-Drive). I use power director and I'm able work with videos directly from the drive with zero problems. I thought a Type-C hard drive plugged into my PC would perform much better than a NAS drive, but I was completely wrong. This My Cloud EX2 has outperformed my WD Easystore and SanDisk G-Drive by a mile. If smooth operation is what you're looking for then this will do it. Looking back I wish I had put more money towards a higher capacity EX2 than adding in those other clunky drives.

Is a useful tool can console in and activate Plex. Only issues that have been mitigated upon updating some times needs to be consoled in on web browser through PC on network and rebooted due to drive system red light on one of the drives. As long as monitored and given a little TLC the drive has been extremely reliable.

Very Useful But Could Be Better

Pros: Easy to setup and administer. I have user accounts for my friends and family and have several groups setup so that users get relevant access. The My Cloud app (iOS, Android) and website (mycloud.com) included with My Cloud OS 5 are easy to use. RAID support allows data redundancy. There's an option to encrypt a volume with AES 256, but that can only be done when setting up the volume. Cons: The drives do not last very long. I'm replacing my first drive after 24 days of ownership. Luckily I had the NAS set to RAID1! The device can be accessed via SSH, but only as an admin. The mobile apps only allow you to add photos and videos. The website only allows you to upload files rather than a directory and its contents. If you're regularly backing up a directory (and subdirectories etc) I'd recommend a sync tool like GoodSync. I'm on Windows 10 and couldn't get Windows to reliably map the NAS as a network attached drive. Again see GoodSync or similar.

This is one step up from my WDMyCloudMirror

Perfect for a replacement (or maybe addition) to my earlier model WDMyCloudMirror drive. The interface is familiar (identical) and the features are enhanced. The older one had gotten very slow, but when MyCloud OS 5 was given as an update, it had improved. This newer model appears to have a-faster-processor and more-memory.

    Worst NAS I have owned.

I had to replace the hard drives and box itself within months. The refurn they sent broke again in a few weeks. Will show up sometimes but mostly flash red and say the drives are bad again. They are supposed to be good red nas drives. I love all the other western digital drives but this is horrible. Synology works better but little pricier. Anything would work better. WD is my goto... the passports and the rest but their cloud NAS is just the worst and WD service cant help because the hardware is junk.
