Easy set device set up. The app and log on had some issues recognizing password by eventually resolved.

It was easy to setup and works really great. You can access the files anywhere.

I am an amateur photographer, and I take a lot of wildlife pictures every week. I needed a big storage place to keep all my pictures, and I needed to access them while out in the field. The WD 4 TB MyCloud meets my needs for now. I can keep all my pictures organized and access them. This drive does not have a way of backing it up except copying all the files manually.

It works as advertised though they are extremely limited in capabilities. These portable NAS drives have so much potential but the manufacturers limit them horribly. 1. Turn on local access and map the drive, otherwise you can only access your files by logging in through their service. There was a 10 day service outage earlier in 2023 and at least a few people lost access to their drives. 2. No way to set a static IP. By portable you should be able to plug the network cable into any computer with an available RJ45 network connector using a crossover cable, and setting the properties of the ethernet port on the computer, but no luck there. It only takes a dynamic IP so it must be on a network running DHCP. Apparently the older models had this feature but it was removed in later versions. 3. SSH access, none whatsoever. Again, was available in older models, no longer. 4. These portable NAS drives are very susceptible to failure from power outages, black/brown outs. Having them plugged into a monitored UPS to trigger a controlled power down script via SSH is an extremely helpful way to avoid hard power downs and potential hardware failure. Been there, done that. I don't like sending drives out for data recovery. See #3 above. For the capabilities above that are lacking IMO, you would be far better off building your own NAS with Raspberry Pi, some additional hardware, and free NAS software. It is more expensive, but still costs far less than paying for disk recovery services.

Could not get this to see and backup windows 10. WD was no help ether. After two weeks of hassle I returned it and bought a NAS like I should have done from the start.

I bought this to replace a old WD NAS that finally became obsolete, but had a very good experience with. The user experience is actually better, with great access from my PC or phone. It's quick, on my home network, I have any delay for most files, and reasonable for large files. It's actually surprisingly quick on the phone using cellular internet. I like the large drive space for the price point, highly recommend.

Not much to review. It stores a ton of data. Backs up in my home not in the cloud, which is nice.

Great Cloud Equipment that was completely sold out at the store on Thanksgiving week. Instructions are easy to follow and setup appears to be a snap. Since I have only operated it for a few days now, I am interested in the longevity of the system. Caution: Geek Squad only protects the equipment and not the actual data. Be sure to back it up on to an external drive.

My old network hard drive (different brand) died so I purchased this to replace it. Unit is very easy to install and do a basic setup. I was a little unclear on best way to access it so I called WD tech support and they showed me how to make easy to access from any of our 3 computers on the network and it works like a charm.

If you are are looking to start file access using a NAS for your home, this is a good start.

Great for a novice computer user. Beats setting a RAID NAS. No issues in the 6 months of use.

This device was very slow on my network, seemed to use alot of resources. Worst of all, if something happens to the device, the cloud does NOT backup your data. Best of all, it's nice to be able to access data from anywhere, IF and only IF the device is online.

Device works very well and fast over network. Setup was incredibly easy using the software provided by WD. Only improvement I’d recommend would be making it easier to used your own drive encryption separate from the provided software. But I realize that’d go against the principles of simplicity.

Exactly what I needed. Easy to install and set up on my phone and computer. Now I know I won't lose any pics or docs. It also downloaded all of my google photos from switching phones

Easy setup no technical skills required Great Price !

This is basically an external drive that connects with a network rather than on one machine. It has very little configuration ability and what it does have pretty much must be done on a phone app, and is somewhat clunky and cumbersome. I admire WD for trying to make idiot-proof devices, but am disappointed that, unlike my other two My Cloud devices, this one has no customization options at all. Can't even rename it and give it a static IP.

Works great with PC, but very, very klunky on iPad Pro

Bought this when I was having issues configuring an older external drive to work on my network. This is so simple. Drag and drop and access from anywhere. Plus with Plex media server built in its a streamlined way to watch saved videos anywhere. I absolutely love it and it’s so easy to setup and start using.

Lots of extra storage. Easy to use and setup and worth it.

Works great. Easy to use and instal software. It was up and running in after a few minutes.
