So far, so good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second My Cloud I have had and it really seems to be the standard for personal cloud based backups using your own device. It is a little complicated to set up, but once it got up and running, everything seems to be working fine.

I was hoping for better... Disappointed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to get this NAS drive when the salesman told me that Plex media server was pre-installed. It wasn't easy to get it all running, but finally it was backing up my photos, recording tv, etc., as I wanted. Then Plex came out with some updated features on the app. It was then I found out that Plex on this WD drive can NEVER be updated! I contacted WD and, although they were very nice and responsive, confirmed that I would be stuck with the present Plex version forever. Then the My Cloud Home stopped responding. So I had to figure out how to reboot it. Finally got it going again. Then it happened again, and again. Not fun. Now I am have trouble watching live tv through my HD Homerun and Plex. Supposedly I don't have a fast enough connection. Sure, right. I have 220+ Mbps internet with a hard wired connection. It works okay most of the time, but not like I was hoping.

My Cloud Home
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took me awhile to figure out how to get it to continuously back up my files. I ended up using free file sync instead of the WD software. Now it works great and I can access it from anywhere. It is a bit slow, even connected on the same lan but it serves my need WD needs to work on their software and the speed

Easy but slow
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fairly easy to setup and get working, however, the performance is very slow. Often times I just copy files to a flash drive and sneaker net it over to where I want the data.

Fast, high-capacity back-up drive
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the MyCloud Home as a remote back-up drive for use with my MacBook Pro and Time Machine, and I highly recommend it. Set-up was easy and relatively fast, and the MyCloud app is a bonus. Good product and a good value.

Good for what it does
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is NOT a NAS drive! It is NOT a storage array (SAN). It is a capacious ethernet attached drive that once you log in and register is pretty easy to map a network drive. I use it for both PC and Mac on my home network and to back up my phone. It's a little slow. So far so good. I don't put anything critical on it.

This is a normal NAS...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to the store looking to replace my ailing mybooklive. Knowing that the mycloud series was an upgraded version of the mybooklive, I assumed that the mycloud home was another flavor of the mycloud... it is NOT. This device bears little resemblance to the mycloud or mybooklive series of devices and should have been given a totally different name. The only way I can backup the data on this device is on a windows machine, using special software to connect to it. There is no ssh, rsync, ftp or anything else. That being said, you can set up a plex server on a user's share and allow other users to access the plex data, which is nice, but I have yet to find a way to backup other users' data. Overall, it's a usable device for what it was intended for. Unfortunately, it's not exactly what I needed and lacks some rather important features.

Great for backups.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to setup and use. I upload and download stuff from anywhere with a signal. Been using it for a year now with no issues at all. Just keep in mind it is slower than a direct connection,

Documentation is light
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All I wanted to do was provide a TimeMachine backup, but I could not get the MacBook Pro TimeMachine to connect to the MyCloud Home NAS. Finally, after a couple hours, I found in the community that I had to login as Guest. Still did not work. I rebooted the Mac and Voila! It connected.

Can't live without MyCloud
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We can't believe we ran our small office without MyCloud. It is so easy to set up. On 3 computers. Easy to organize, save important emails for quick references. Some times we have a problem with the app. It won't show certain changes when you open a document.
