Good storage for price horibbly slow transfer
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have gigabit internet, my own server, NAS, the whole nine yards. This thing is SLOW. If you are just archiving stuff from your phone, or using it to play movies off your tv it's fine.

Doesn't work with the new Apple M1 chip
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This does not work with Apple's new M1 chip and WD has yet to release an update that will allow it to work with the new chip. However, even though it doesn't work with the new M1 chip on my primary computer, I'm giving it two stars since it works well with my other secondary devices such as my iPhone and iPad. I don't recommend this for anyone who has an Apple computer with an M1 chip, but do recommend it if you have the Intel chip. I would change my rating to five stars if WD ever makes a fix for this problem.

Great way to store and retrieve photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using the WD app on my iphone allows my photos to be uploaded to the drive. I don't like having my photos on icloud. I prefer to have my own device. Plus, I can easily see and videos, movies, and photos I have stored here from anywhere.

Great concept but incredibly bad WD support
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own two of these. (The one commented on is the most recent purchase.) They work extremely well. WD support is not very responsive. macOS Catalina, which was released this week, has been available for test since June. It no longer supports 32 bit apps. Apple has been warning developers for several years that they were gong to drop support in this release. This gave WD plenty of time to update their app. They didn't do it and the only way to access your drives is via a kludge using a web browser. Until it is fixed, I cannot recumbent this product.

Why did't I purchase this sooner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of having multiple "Back-Up" external drives, I finally bit the bullet and purchased the WD 4TB My Cloud. I couldn't be happier. I have been able to consolidate all my files into a single spot. I love that they are accessible to any one of my computers. That I can access my files from anywhere is awesome, yes this drive has remote capabilities. This drive is simple to install for those who are computer savvy, but I can see it being a bit more difficult for those who are technically challenged .

Perfect cloud and backup device

The bigger benefit is being able to access files from anywhere without paying a monthly membership.

Perfect storage unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No complaints here. The unit was extremely easy to connect. It took longer to read the instructions than it did to get it up and running. For the price and the amount of secure storage you get this was a great deal.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This one is way better than my first one was. Easy to setup and use, good value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device was easy to setup and use. Less configurability that the higher end WD NAS offerings, but a good value for a reliable, easy to use, simple NAS solution.

Killed my wifi to other devices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Actually gave this product 2 shots. The 1st one installed easy and started working in 20 minutes. Good interface. Only problem is it only backs up your camera roll in your Android devices. The next day my wife started noticing that rokus and tablets would get slow wifi. Unplugged the my cloud home and all were back to normal. Exchanged for another one and then it was a full day excercise to install since the desktop app didn't recognize the new one and I couldn't figure out how to remove the old one. Had to register again with a different email to get it to work....and the it did used all the wifi again.

Great for phone photos
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this for backing up my camera roll. I also like that you can add users with their own account and space on it. Also was able to transfer files via the usb port on the back. The mobile app seems straight forward.

Great for easy setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The network storage is great if you want a very easy setup and do not need to setup user permissions. I was told this was like my old one (WD mccloud NAS) it was the "newer" version. After plugging it in it literally was about a 5min setup. The longest part was taking it out of the box. After setup, there is not a way to setup permissions for individual users. Like my old WD network storage, I was able to customize settings for each family member. Since all my friends are all in IT as well as myself, I personally would not recommend this device to them. Other than permissions, this is a good unit.
