This NAS is awesome, I was talking to my Brother in law the other day about this versus running Plex on a PC, and this drive is on all the time where a PC will go to sleep and you have to wake it up to access the Plex server files. Great investment.

I bought this to replace my netgear that went bad. Only downfall is trying to map it with the IP Address, you can't on this model. I wish this would be an update with Firmware, and am still hoping. The Android app is awesome, and is great for backing up photos ETC.

The MYCloud from WD use to be an NAS drive that you didn't have to fool around with much. I just missed the fine print and lost a lot of flexibility in the changes from my old MYCLOUD that died a few days after warranty. Read up before buying fill like Windows ME all over again with the WD software.

I got this to back-up my computer files so I can access to them anywhere. Just hook it up to the router, download the app, set-up the account and that's it. Now I can easily transfer my files safely to the hard drive. And I can get access to it from anywhere, where there is a wi-fi. Love it.

I was worried about losing my phone pics and it was too much hassle to keep backing up regularly. This was a great buy. I can easily backup my phone and laptop. I can easily share the files. Works great overall. I am satisfied with what I paid and what I got.

Seems to be a well put together product but was surprised to find you could not set up a share. If it had a share I would give it 5 stars. Depends on your use case but a share seems to be a pretty common useful feature this product is lacking.

My original apple Time Machine backup finally died, so I decided to give this product a try. It has worked flawlessly now for a year backing up a wired Mac and my MacBook. I'm very pleased

In the end not worth the investment

Although the product is the best "home" NAS for ease of use and setup the life of the product is not worth the investment. I had the previous generation and WD stopped supporting it earlier this year. So based on that timeline you need to replace the device about every 6-8 years. Speed slows like any piece of technology, cloud-based you do not have to worry about that occurring. Being a prime member I get photo storage for free, plus speed and filing is much faster than MyCloud

Bought this so I could access my system when I was at conferences away from home. It worked well for a month or so then there was a Huge data breach and the chaos that was unleashed was awful. Mine now sits in a corner unplugged, only to turn on when I need something off of it. Shameful!

Never had this problem with a drive: if you try to copy a folder from one drive that contains other folders onto this WD drive, all files within those enclosed folders WILL NOT NECESSARILY COPY! And you won't get a warning! I've tried using a different file copy program other than windows and same problem. Then the WD software crashed. Worst drive I've ever owned. I own other WD drives (including MyCloud) but this is my first and last My Cloud Home.
