The product is working very well and as expected. Once set up it is very easy to use. I did need to have Geek Squad set it up. I am not very tech savvy.

One of the best purchases I have ever made. I use this drive to store all the digitized movies I have. It runs Plex server so no need for a separate PC. Has run great and the updated download and backup functionalities are awesome.

    Avoid Western Digital

This purchase was necessary since Western Digital (WD) will no longer support remote access to the two devices I had purchased before. Brought it home and tired to set it up. Got the drive to connect to one OS device. But the drive could not be found by my laptop or any other device on my network. This renders the drive useless since back up to my lap top was the principal reason I had the drives to begin with. After working to get it to connect for over two hours, I returned it for a refund. Concerning WD in general, I have a PR 2100 that cost over $700 and have had issues with drive integrity - will not run tests or fails to complete so this is not an isolated problem to this drive. The best part is when I contacted WD and they would not replace under warrantee stating that device was nearing the end of it life time (it is less than two years old by the way) Now I have two Cloud devices that are useless to me and replacements will not work.

bought this hard drive to auto backup my phones pictures and videos. ended up using additional features such as sharing private space with another family member and auto-backup for other cloud accounts such as Google drive and One drive.

This works exactly as described. We were looking for a physical external hard drive that could easily and automatically back up photos and other items from our connected devices. Perfect for photo sharing from multiple devices.

This is decent cloud accessible backup. This is not NAS and shouldn't try to pretend it is. fine for occasional small files. If you actually want to use as a backup, don't plan to change anything often or it will bog down. I connected to this as a network drive and ugh...slows my explorer down to the point where the only thing I can do is restart my computer. There is nothing elegant about this. This is only designed for backups and the backups are slow. It's not designed as NAS and if you find work-arounds to let you use it as NAS, it will be slow as heck. And it's loud. Across the room, I can hear this 24/7 Save yourself. Get a real NAS solution, not this. The pro of this is that your data is available online from anywhere, which would be okay if it weren't just data backups. I only edit my primary copies of files, so this feature is useless for me. Great for people who want to backup and show off their photographs. Mostly useless for people looking for sharing files and folders through Network Accessible Storage.

Great hardware. The firmware is dependent on a connection from western digital, however the firmware can be flashed to install open media vault.

“I think it’s very important to have a feedback loop, where you’re constantly thinking about what you’ve done and how you could be doing it better.” That is what the simple product meant to me. it is a great buy from best buy

The setup of the drive is pretty easy, but the software is kind of glitchy and I never could get the software to install on the laptop. The backup of picutres from the phone is pretty slow as well

Works great to back up iPhone....However.... It states that it is Time Machine compatible for Mac, but it was difficult to set up. Finding support on the internet was dismal as many of the support pages for WD My Cloud were either broken links or completely out of date information. To upload any files to the My Cloud from my MacBook had to be done through the Web page as a desktop app is no longer supported. The process was slow and unreliable for larger files. I spent 2 frustrating hours trying to connect it to my MacBook before I decided it would just be better to return it.

The ability to have an extra 4tb wirelessly connect To most of my devices has come in handy for a lot of things, I work with film, so not needing to carry around so many drives on me, has been really convenient

Compared to my older WD cloud this unit is awesome. Easy to pull down files from anywhere, 6 year old version was brutally slow. Easy to transfer all my data from old WD Cloud to this one.

The WD My Cloud Home was an okay purchase, in my opinion, for its price. The software is a far bigger issue and needs to be addressed if this product as it is not extremely reliable.

Works great, this was a replacement. Only glitch is I had to uninstall old software from previous mycloud storage when I loaded this onto the network on my updated MacBook Pro. After that, it works smoothly and quickly.
