Not a NAS. Cannot share files.

I bought this today and I'm putting it right back in the box and returning it. It is NOT a NAS device. It is a personal storage device. Each user has their own private storage, which wouldn't be bad if you could share it. You can send a share link to other users and they can view the files (or just pictures) on their mobile device. But NOT on PCs. The only way to view shares on a PC is with a browser. So its only possible use case is as a phone backup with very occasional picture sharing but only between phones. After running into these problems, I found several threads on the WD community site of people complaining about this same problem and WD reps saying they were working on it - over a year ago. The most recent "update", according to the community site, was to remove the Family folder which would have been the only useful feature. The next "update" will likely remove WD Discovery which is the only way to access the drive on a PC.

GS diagnosed the issue with my "new" backup. It no longer supports Apple. Bought another model and installed it with no issues.

There is a little setup but it’s not too bad. You have to know that this is a cloud based backup option that you can share access too. It’s a dependable and accessible anywhere.

The support team for this product has no idea what they are doing. I was told everything takes about 15 days to get a simple answer. I would give it 5 stars were it not for the support.

I was hoping that this would be a good drive, but it appears I am not able to transfer files to it throughout USB and have been painfully uploading files through the web instead.

Great way to have your own personal Cloud without paying for subscription with other companies. Store your pictures, files, etc and access them anywhere without copying or moving the drive.... Yes Please!

The older version of this product allowed cloning of thos drive to a separate hard drive attached via usb. This one does not. The functionality as a cloud drive works well, though.

This device work for me, although I cannot access it from my Mac. It also has no interface for configuration and security. All in all it works with my Windows machines.

No good. The app doesn't seem to work with anything and the access is clunky and near useless. We got this to replace our offsite cloud storage and attempted to set up automatic updates from all our devices. Not only is this difficult in any form (seems like photos and documents are the only backup options?) but this device DOES NOT talk to Windows, Apple, or Android and the web login is simplified to uselessness. Please just use this money to get an (non WD) external HD and network it locally yourself, it will save you time, money, and the disappointment of a trusted brand failing you after decades of investment.

This is great. I love the fact that it allows connection via the network and it runs Plex. If you are looking for a nice cost effective media server you can go wrong with this

Bought this in January this year. Just a few weeks ago I discovered that their coverage or whatever you wanna call it upon this mycloud stops this year, June or July I believe. That means being away from home, out of town, anywhere away from your home network, you will not have access to the my cloud anymore. I don’t know if that makes me mad at the actual store, the manufacturer, or both. when things are that close to being obsolete, they need to quit selling it for what it is supposed to be.

This device's network name changes unexpectedly disconnecting it from TimeMachine Configurations on Mac Devices which interrupts automatic backups.
