Took a little bit to figure out the Plex feature and move my library, but after a while it’s oretty seemless. I don’t mind the cloud access. It does have a public folder that can shared with.

I was led to believe that this would work right out of the box. It does not. One has to do a lot work to figure out how to make it useful. The company's help is USELESS.

Great piece of hardware! Works well on a home network environment.

I have had this for a while now we use it to back up photos and videos from all over the country. It's like having a server at home.

I would not recommend this unit. my cloud pulled out from WD and now I cannot access my content. This Hard drive never should have been sold

Nice having your own cloud that you don't pay monthly for. Every now and then it stops auto backup and you have to unplug and reconnect the ethernet cable but that's all.

This was extremely easy to set up and works flawlessly with my IPhone 12 Pro Max. It automatically backs up all my photos into one spot.

I use this all the time to automatically back up photos on my phone as well as a Time Machine backup. I'm currently running Plex media server on it as well and it runs great!

Not a very compliant NAS - really shouldn't even be called a NAS; it should be called a Limited File Sharing Device. SMB works for it's public share, but you cannot seem to transfer files via USB to the public share; you must use the network transfer process via SMB only for public access (DLNA, windows explorer, etc.). You cannot FTP, SFTP, SSH or SCP to this device. You cannot make private user files available in the public share location, nor can the user access public share files in the web interface to transfer files. If you want any of the functions of a typical NAS, this is not going to make you happy at all. Returning within 24hrs.

should have gotten one a long time ago. automatically backs up your phone photos no need to pay apple to do it and you can see them from any device.

Using it as a network drive that multiple PC's automatically backup to. Can setup password protected folders and share files also. Works well.

I love this product. It's like having my files available from wherever whenever. It's private too so no third party has access to them.

This was pretty easy to set up, I feel much safer with my info now that it’s in my possession over the cloud storage offered by apple.

The product does not last. Was working perfectly over a year and half and the drive failed. All my data and synced photos were lost. In order to recover data, it has to be sent off to data recovery and they charge to recover the data. They quoted $2000 for data recovery. Western Digital nor BB does nothing to accommodate data recovery but give you a number to call data recovery. Will never buy another WD storage device. Every WD storage device that I have ever bought has failed.

Second one purchased, this one was for a family member. Makes life so much easier when you need to share large amounts of data.

Simple plug and play installation. Can be set up to have multiple user accounts. Automatic file transfer from old W D Dr. to this new one was very convenient.

Good product but there is a lot of limitations is ease of operation. The backup should be seamless and not dependent on an app.

The installation process was NOT very intuitive. It loaded up ok on my desktop pc, but it was a chore to add it to my laptop. When WD did a software upgrade I had to uninstall and reinstall it on my laptop. The difference seems to be that my desktop pc is hard-wired to my wi-fi router, whereas the laptop is using wi-fi
