Great for mobile backup / bad for PC backup

My primary use was for PC backups. After 2 days of fighting with the configuration of it I returned it. It seems great if all you want to do is backup your mobile devices, but for a PC it is very cumbersome. I bought a WD Easystore instead. Much better/easier for PC backups.

Works until it dont

I contacted western digital and their 2 year warranty does not cover data recovery. To make matter worse I had to send them my old one before they would send me my new one. I was then told I could keep my old one for 30 days for a fee. I did every thing I could but no one could restore my data.

Not Happy, It Requires WD App To Function...

Unless I have the WD app running I cannot see the drive (Apple MacBook Pro Retina). While it may work fine, I don't like unnecessary apps running, this is a connected drive and should simply show up under my network drives. I don't recommend this unit...

Disappointing performance and features

It is slower and has fewer features. You cannot create an offsite link to another device for safety of backups (I bought one for myself and one for my son, but NO GO - the discontinued MyCloud device will do this). Also the music server is through Plex only and doesn't work.
