Instead, it turned out to be a public server with all files going through the WD servers. Files are not easily accessed. And if you try to do a restore to your computer, you are SOL! You need to have windows up and running in order to access the backup? Defeats the purpose. This is not a NAS and shouldn't even be advertised with them. This is defiantly going back to Bestbuy.

What a mistake.. first its slow... like really really slow. Second as a admin I want to see what other are saving and sharing on my NAS. Nope thats gone. DLNA support ..gone as well (sharing with other devices that support DLNA like smart tvs). Playing videos from the NAS from WD app from my phone... Nope constantly hangs. WD lost me as a customer on these.. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

It is only connecting and backing up my cell phone. The instructions to set it up on the computer are not helpful; the instructions do not match the app. In researching it looks like as time goes on it will be difficult to use it without running into more issues for firmware, etc.

The user interface was not what I would expect from such an established company. Then This thing stopped working after about 2 months. It will not connect to the internet. I have tried time and time again to get it to connect with no luck. Called the help desk and he basically told me to try the online website suggestions. Overall I cannot recommend this to anyone. Do not waste your money like I did.

Not Mac compatible
