Not Mac compatible

Great for Apple Time Machine

Painfully Slow

Backups are painfully slow. A 50gb iPhoto backup took 5 hours with nothing else being backed up. A time machine backup of my MacBook was showing over 1 day before I stopped it and delated the files. I will be returning this.

WD ICloud

However, I notice this particular product is not included in their software upgrade taking in effect in 2022. Making many of their devices useless unless you connect it to your computer so make sure you do you research, before buying.

NOT a NAS Drive

Not accessible like a NAS drive for pulling content.... Not Music nor Movies Get a BUFFALO NAS drive for that. That’s what I did. This product description is deceptive. Buyer beware.

Extremely difficult to store files locally

The WD My Cloud makes it extremely difficult to create and access as a shareable drive on your network, losing access often, or locking users out from directories. If you intend to use it as a cloud, understand that any files that are uploaded to the drive will be uploaded to Western Digital's server essentially eliminating the necessity of having a physical HDD on your network. Since purchasing this drive it has been a constant frustration with attempting to use even the basic function of a network drive.
