The interface to manage this My Cloud Home NAS version is sorely inadequate. It does not allow the multitude of administrative settings available with the My Cloud (older version) NAS. And the Plex server is highly unreliable compared with the Twonky server, which was available on the My Cloud NAS but not the My Cloud Home.

This device is absolutely garbage, do not buy this, it doesn't work, its write speed is so slow that it renders t useless. If you are looking to transfer anything big or serious wirelessly with this device, you are wasting your money and time because it will surely disappoint you.

Requires you to install a bunch lf bloatware and access the drive through their web interface rather than just mapping the drive directly via network or router settings. Not good.

The MyCloud Home has lots of potential but did not live up to it. Maybe in a year or to it will. For now its going back.

I Had Issues with Large Data Transfers

I bought this to replace an older My-Cloud networked drive. In my experience, the transfer of a large amount of data (100's GB of photos, documents, etc,) was way too slow, about 15 hrs+, and never really finished the copying. Sadly, after a couple of attempts I returned the unit.

This didn't work with my Mac either. I'm an idiot thinking that I just bought the wrong WD product, I returned the first WD external drive I got and got a second one - wrong! It still doesn't work with my Mac. Sorry WD - stop saying your stuff work with a Mac.

This low cost storage device had less than complete installation instructions and didn't connect quite seamlessly but eventually got the job done. Given the size of files these days, you might consider a larger storage device.

The product is garbage. It only allows you to tranfer picture and that is the only thing you can backup.. Totally defeats the purpose. I had purchased to be able to backup my tablet, phone, and computers. Yet only allows pictures and not files.

Short and sweet..Transfer speed is SUPER Slow. Worst of all Cannot auto backup Pictures or Documents folder to it from PC using windows auto back-up without long drawn out steps to create a map to the drive. Even though the drive has its own drive letter created by windows. Cannot Auto back up to Dropbox either.... Useless piece of junk.

You can’t set a static IP on this device, which is ridiculous. You have to go through WDs servers to use it.

I was very disappointed. Bought this primarily as a NAS for backup of my multiple computers, turns out not even the bundled software can use this drive for a backup target. With all the cloud services available, a waste of money just as a personal cloud
