Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the My Cloud Mirror's ease of use, ample storage capacity, and relatively easy setup process. Many appreciate its RAID capabilities for data protection and the ability to access files from various devices. However, some users experienced slow backup speeds and found the accompanying software to be less than ideal. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and storage outweighs the concerns about software and backup performance.

Great drive and good protection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive to backup our home business computers as we can't afford to be without them for more than a few hours. Accounting, graphics, embroidery and screen printing software is all needed at any given time. I wanted a drive that would hold all of our data and be able to back up multiple devices. It has served that purpose well so far. I am backing up 3 pc's to this drive effortlessly. The only downside I would say is that the software that comes with it is fantastic if you only want to do back ups. It's provided to WD by Acronis and is a stripped down version of their full software. I wanted to be able to image our drives so that if they crashed, I can simply replace the drive, restore and go without having to reload the operating system, all the software, and then the backup. I bought the Acronis True Image 2015 with a 3 PC license that solved that problem. So far a great drive and being a raid system, I have double the protection.

Nice product, very easy setup.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The initial setup of this product was extremely easy. The wizards that WD use are intuitive, logical, and easy to follow. Overall, very satisfied with the product. I only wish that it had more options like either built in media server, or apps to download. One final note, it was default configured to RAID 1. I didn't see that on the box documentation anywhere. This is what I wanted, but it could confuse a novice that may have been expecting to see the full 4TB capacity available to them.

Easy to set up, works as planned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this external drive to be my primary repository for music and photos, as well as to serve as a back up drive. I chose this version because of the RAID option, since I won't have backups of my media anywhere else I wanted the security of RAID. The unit was easy to install on Window 7, and it is quite energy efficient and goes to/from sleep quite easily when not in use.

Serves its purpose
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not sure if it's my home UL speed, device capabilities, or the Drive's processor can't handle streaming HD video all that well due to constant buffering. Multiple factors are in play here. I stream (or at least try to) 1080p video whenever I can. Quality is my niche. For the most part, it works as a RAID NAS...for what it was designed.

Would have given 5 stars........

I have several HTPCs throughout the house, so if I store my recordings on the My Cloud, I have access to them from any HTPC in my home, anytime. It works! It works great! I have this configured in RAID 1. If you aren't familiar with RAID, I suggest you get online and do a little reading. In RAID 1, you WILL NOT get 4 TB of storage. You will only get 2 TB, but each drive stores a mirror image of the data so that if one drive fails, your data is safe. (this is a wonderful capability, see below). You can configure this NAS to get a full 4 TB of storage, but then you don't get the mirror backup of your data. I knew this going in, I bought it specifically for the RAID 1 mirror capability. If you want more storage plus the mirror backup, you'll have to get one of the larger models. HOWEVER.......after 20 days one of the drives hard failed. It was very easy to see using the Dashboard which drive failed; the status lights on front of the device also indicated something was up with drive 1. Now, since I only had this for 20 days, and I was a BB Elite member, I just returned it to the store. Had it been out of it's return period, I would have had to go through WD support portal to get a drive replaced. Nice thing is, since I used RAID 1 (which is default), all my data was safe. I could have just popped out the bad drive and put in a new one and the system would have restored the data to the new drive. Very nice! I just got the new device yesterday, and with BB's Holiday return policy, I have until the end of Jan again, so if this presents another failure, I'll be able to return it and decide if I want money back or replacement. I really hope the reliability is good - it's such a nice product. So, I give it 4 stars for the early failure. Keep in mind, this is not a flaw of this particular NAS, it's just a drive failure. The My Cloud Mirror used WD Red hard drives - you can buy them at many online retailers. Sometimes drives are bad - it's the way things are. Funny, the Red drives are built specifically for 24/7 NAS applications, but they don't get as good of ratings as the WD Blue or Black drives. Go figure? So, I'll give this 1 mulligan - especially since it was a HDD failure. Had the enclosure itself failed, I would be more concerned. The speed is extremely fast - I have it connected to a Gig Ethernet switch and I get flawless streaming of HD videos over my network. HELPFUL TIP: If you want to map the drive in windows so it appears as a letter, go into File Explorer and map the network drive and when windows wants you to type in the Folder name, type in \\WDMyCloudMirror and select your Drive letter of choice. Works great for me.

Replacement for photo storage in cloud
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Basically my photos library burned up all the space in the cloud, leaving no room to store any regular files. Eventually the photos uploading from my phone stopped working, which was the whole point of the cloud. It took some work and a phone call to the Concierge to set this thing up, but it works fine. I set it up on RAID in order to ensure a data integrity in event of drive failure. Different users are restricted from seeing certain parts of the drive, thus I can keep work photos out of the family photos. It has automatic backup features that are built in for use with PCs (and Macs, too, but I'm not a Mac person).
