This external hard drive is like my wallet, its always on me wherever I go. From documents to personal photos, with the encryption software thats offered by Western Digital I have to say I couldnt me more please with such a useful piece of hardware.

Great price for this usb powered external hard drive. Many color options. Case (plastic) not as solid as others I have owned. Not sure how durable it will be in years to come.

My laptop died and I was fortunate that I had some documents on a memory stick. I didn't update my computer in a while and lost work. I wanted a hard drive that was reasonable priced and backed up everything automatically. I am very pleased with this model.

Bought this because I didn’t realize how many songs and photos I had on my computer. (Over 300 GB of my 500 GB) This was easy to format for my Mac and transfer everything over quickly.

Do not have to do anything and backups continue flawlessly for me. When I review backups everything is there fine. Just don't know how long it will work and work when needed!

I gave it a four instead of five stars cause it should come with a split y power cable in order to work with devices like the ps4, and other low powered ports. Sometimes it makes a clicking noise and then throws an error. Just reboot and usually everything is good, but I'll be buying a y split power cable for USB 3.0 so prevent data loss on my games. Other than that load times are great, and I have no complaints. Also great price.

Best Buy Geek Squad loaded my information on to my new computer and on this external hard drive. My old computer took forever to back up my information and now it backs up onto this drive in minutes. Guess it speaks to my Lenovo Yoga 910 and my terabyte hard drive!

Purchased this to transfer data from my desktop hard drive when the computer died. Worked well for the transfer, and I've used it on the road ever since. No issues, but if I had time to purchase another hard drive for less money, I definitely would've gone that route.

These external USB3 HDs keep dropping in price so you can never have too many of them for storage and especially backup, right? You -are- doing backup, eh? This is a cheap backup solution. Tell your Mac to use it with TimeMachine and you're all set.

The WD My Passport has been a life saver for me at work. compact and plenty of memory I do not need to carry around multiple flash drives for backup. It is convenient for those who do not want to pay for cloud backup.

Just plug and play - kept the Win and Mac s/w but this is running on a linux box. HTH.

I have owned many WD External drives over the years (250 gig and larger) Never had one fail yet. Did a full format on this one (a basic reliability check) and had no problems. The new shell style is just awful. Sharp corners (won't fit in some carry cases) and a shiny surface (great for showing scratches and finger prints). There is an old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" nuff said...

Got this and a second one (in blue) for our office so that we had two back ups. We alternate then from week to week and keep one off site. Our tech consultant recommended this after the hard drive went back and the back up went bad at the same time. It's working very well.

Nice and compact to travel with. Definitely has enough storage to save all of my paper for school.

WD passports are always my go to for time machine for macs and backups in general for windows. No need to buy the Passport to apple as it takes less than a minute to format. even though it's a traditional drive, Passports are always fast and reliable

I find that my speed has increased greatly. My computer works like a brand new model.

This product has surpassed my expectations. I was able to hook it up and moved the items necessary for backup with out incident. No glitches or anything, backed up my entire computer from all 4 years of high school and still have memory available.

Old computer was scammed, and didn't have files backed up! Had to buy new desktop, and I'm not making the mistake again of not having files backed up. This portable hard drive was recommended by Best Buy staff. It was easy to install and seems to be doing the job!!!
