Nice value but is it really faster? Maybe not...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice storage for the price but, surprisingly, on this computer with USB3 the transfer speed was no higher than about 90 megabytes per second - not even remotely close to the advertised 1000 megabytes per sec. Your mileage may vary and maybe it's only optimized for USB 3.2. But trying a fair set of repeated tests (swapping cables and port positions, formatted the same, same large folder of data, simultaneous operation, etc.), this newest model drive transferred data no faster than, and sometimes 10% SLOWER than, an older 500GB WD external SSD (the rectangular, small square-cornered plastic case). The older model got up over 105MB/sec - same files, same port, same computer, etc. Unexpected results...

2nd WD Drive to Fail

I've had plenty of cheap flash drives that have never had this issue. Wouldn't buy WD again
