I was using this disk for time machine backups for work. The drive mounts, but I cannot read any data from it, and the Mac's storage utility app and time machine could not access the data after a reboot. Fortunately I'm not suffering data loss, but I'm not amused, the ability to restore is what matters not just backing up, and now I can't do that. After reformatting the volume, I can back up to it, but there are still issues, sadly MacOs cannot see the smart status. I'm going to need a more reliable volume.

Outstanding technology! This is a huge bang for the buck.

Supposedly the fine print on my signed document for the recovery services warned that it might all not be recovered. However, the $500 estimate describing the files to be recovered did not indicate that some file would not be recovered. I don’t feel that I got what I paid for.

It works, but it's very slow. I would like to see a faster download.

This is my second external within a couple of months. The other one just stopped working. Gladly I had purchased the extra $15 replacement plan, so I was able to get this one, with paying another $15 of course. Guess they don't make them like they used to! :(

I wanted to attach these drives to a multi-port USB extension like I do with Flash Drives. When I attach them, they get recognized and then they disappear and not attached and can't use them.

The instructions require a magnifying glass to read. It's like they're trying to save paper, or maybe they don't want you to read them.

While backing up from a old drive to this one it died and had a hardware failure. It's a nice looking drive slim and has nice software for backups and encryption but I don't know if would trust files on just this one drive.

I am very disappointed with this purchase. My internal harddrive capacity is 930 GB. So far I only use about 629 GB of my internal harddrive. After I run a backup to this 2TB WD external hard drive, it showed over 1.5 TB has been used. Maybe it has hidden program files so I will try to format it.

WD is one of the best companies on the market for computer hardware. Love this portable hard drive.

Wanted to find a wireless way to back up the many photos we have - unfortunately this does not work. Great storage for the price -but will be returning it

Bought this for my wife to store work files and it went dead within a year. Am currently waiting on a warranty replacement and we'll see how #2 lasts. Probably should have spent the money on SSD.

Super lag but it works just fine. Get ready to annoyed by this passport. After connecting it to the computer it will test your anger management. Lol

OMG I hate this thing. Installing the software was a pain because their site was down on a Saturday afternoon. Can't the entire installer fit on a 2TB drive??? The real reason for this review is that a backup can NEVER run on it's own because the moment it encounters a file that's in use, the entire job stops and waits for user input on how to proceed. My last drive was a Seagate which failed after a few years. I should have stayed with them.

I had to buy a replacemt within 18 month, it gave out out of nowhere! Hopefully it was my fault and not a problem with the way it was manufactured.

Does what it is supposed to do. No errors, easy setup and fast read/write to disc.

The WD external drive stopped backing up after two months. Taking it to Geek Squad - they can fix most problems.

Not compatiable with Mac downloaded the driver and opened it only for it to say it no longer works with Mac

Made a high-pitched noise upon installation. May have to return it. Could be a one-off, so can't really accurately judge the product at this time.

This drive failed within a year and it's going to cost me $1007.00 to recover the data if they can even do it! I should be reimbursed for this drive since I've been a member since 2019 a Total Tech Member pretty sure I have been one longer than that.
