Bought this product and immediatly went home and transferred all my videos from my SD cards to it (about 10 hours of footage that I needed) and wiped the SD's to reuse later, so all the videos were only on the Passport. I was going through the video files on the Passport and renaming them to easily find and use them later and then it just stopped working. After 50 minutes of the video attempting to load I forcibly shut the passport down and restarted the cumputer. Now it wont even register on the computer no matter what I do. So now I've lost all that footage which cannot be remade and have to pay $250+ to recover the footage. And I only had the product for maybe 2 hours.... I hope I can be reimbursed for the recovery but I'm sure that's high hopes that won't come to fruition.

This product is one that I can depend on to retain my images and I like that they come in colors

Can't get it to work. Have to take it into Geek Squad.

I bought this hard drive barely a month ago. I've used it maybe 15 times. One day, I went to plug it in and it wasn't being recognized in my laptop. It would finally come up with an error message that read "Must format before hard drive can be used". I did not want to format it because I had some files I had not backed up so I had to take it to a electronic repair store who told me the hard drive was "toast" but they were able to back up the files. It will ultimately cost me more to recover the files than the hard drive cost and now I don't have a hard drive. Do not buy this product.

It's a roughly (they always say 2TB, but it's really like 1.8TB as usual). It's storage. Storage is storage. If storage doesn't work it's probably DOA and needs to be returned for a functioning product. Data is expensive and so is data storage and reviewing is free data for BB, so that's all i'm putting and the product is actually probably 3-5 stars.

Garbage drive, garbage support. I bought this to have cross-platform support on Mac & Windows. Getting this to work on Mac Is impossible. The WD Discovery software installs but then I can’t get the Mac driver to install and I can’t format the drive. WD support has been all canned responses. Paragon, the driver publisher, took a week to get back to me and then sent me horrifically vague instructions. Don’t waste your time or your money if you’re not fully in the Windows eco-sphere.

Absolutely terrible choice for data you actually need safe. Bought this to back up some data and the drive failed within a month - it's still within the Best Buy return window. No damage, spilled liquids or improper usage. Western Digital Customer Support was a joke and said they'll give me a new drive but I'm on my own for the data. Have to salvage a 1TB at cost to myself. Will never buy another Western Digital product again.

Once you have the most valuable files you'll ever need on this piece of crap, it'll stop being recognizable to your computer. I moved hours of recordings and sheet music onto this thing and about 1 week later was asked to format it to use it. Don't waste your time. Don't waste your money. Don't waste your life. You'll regret this purchase so just skip it

I've bought three of these things over the years and two of them completely crapped themselves within a year. Even some very sophisticated partition recovery programs were unable to salvage them; everything on them was lost. I previously had good success with older WD drives so when the first one stopped working I figured it was bad luck. When the second one stopped working that's more than just a coincidence.

Manufacturing error mine vibrates and takes all my games off Home Screen almost every turn on

Warning does not work with MAC! I've been troubleshooting for literally hours at this point and no matter what I do it will not work. The computer recognizes it but wont let me use it.

Had this unit for a little bit over a month and it is reporting a read error thru Defraggler, which I downloaded it just to try and resolve the issue and also Data Lifeguard which is thru WD. I would not recommend this thing.

Quality is not good and it overheats really fast , price is decent but I don’t recommend it

Definitely would not recommend this product. Returned back to the store after having no success with the manufacturer regarding the product.

Does not work with my computers. I am considering returning for a refund.
