    I had to replace an old external hard drive and this was recommended by the sales person. As near as I can tell (I'm no techie) it seems to work. I was used to being able to initiate a back up if I missed my weekly schedule. Apparently you can't do that with this drive. Not much of a problem since I schedule back up every Sunday.
