I like the Seagate backup better but this one will do the job

This hard drive worked really well at first, but then one day when I plugged it into my laptop, it didn't show up. Then when I plugged it in again, it showed up but all my files were gone, I have no idea what happened and I lost all my files.

Not a bad product just a little difficult to configure.

So I purchased this cause it said it was compatible with Macs but it isn't it worked for a total of 30 mins maybe 45 and then it stopped backing up and would give an explanation as to why I contacted WD and they keep trying to refer me back to the same darn basic troubleshooting

have yet to use so not sure what to expect will let you know

It is active and functioning, it is just not easily stored.

The connecting cord seems cheap, but we will see how it lasts.

Not easy to figure out how to use. But I will figure it out.

Didn't work on my computer. I still have widows XP

Have had this less than 3 months and it has already stopped working. The computer will not recognize it as a drive when I connect it. Bought this for my daughter to back up all of her photos and videos (over 300 gig) and they are all now lost and she is heart broken. After researching online, many others have had the same issue with this drive. Tried several different solutions online without any success of retrieving the files. Past the return policy with Best Buy, so now I now I have to deal with Western Digital to try and get replaced.

Got this for my PS4, and it was formatted and ready for use within 20 seconds. If you are tired of deleting games to make room for new ones, then I highly recommend this external drive. 2 TB's of valuable space added in seconds. My console was sluggish with the internal drive almost at capacity, once I transferred a few hundred gigs over, my console is now a lot more responsive! Gotta love it when things work as they should!

I had this drive fail within about three months. The warranty was honored, but a drive that is not banged around or abused should not be failing this soon. Another thing: USB means UNIVERSAL. I find that unless you keep the cable that came with the box with that particular drive, your drive will not appear when connected. That's just plain wrong. I have had several WDs fail in the past few years; warrany is always honored, but I am not pleased. In mechanical drives I will go back to Seagate.

Tried this on 2 new desktops, and 2 notebooks. On all of them, it would be in the process of transferring files, then stop. When tried to "cancel" the transfer, the computer would lock up. Had to do a hard shut down on all four. Initially, when returning, left files on there because of this, but was able to delete them prior to the return. Hope Best Buy is good on their word for refund. Will be buying a different external drive once the credit or refund comes through. Had thought initially, it was the computer, but when it did it to the others, knew it was the drive.

Seems to be a good product but would not format to MAC OS. Had to go buy another one that was formatted which cost 30 dollars more. Box said it could be formatted for MAC. Support not helpful.

While the external hard drive seems like a convenient device for backup, I am having trouble backing up to it. For some reason my laptop keeps "losing the device" as an external drive.

Not recognized by my computer, had to go deep into system software to get it to work. Took overnight to format it. Once I got it working with my computer, I discovered WD offered absolutely no backup software for their product to function with my computer. They told me to use 3rd party software, but no recommendations as to who's to use what so ever. No product service or support offered. Only one star, because I can't select zero or negative stars. Goodbye Western Digital... Forever!!

I had the product for less than a day before it failed, losing invaluable photos/videos of my young children that I just erased off my phone because I thought I could rely on the hard drive. Oh but wait, I paid data recovery experts $1200 dollars to repair and use forensic retrieval methods. So I didn't actually lose the pictures of the moment my son was born forever, but did have to take out a loan to recover them. Run away from this product.

Having trouble backing up to it, keeps "Getting Disconnection to the device" I have to return it!

Used it once, uploaded a bunch of stuff from the computer as back up, including pics, videos, files, etc. A couple of weeks later I go to add more, and the data is corrupted. It requires I reformat the drive in order to use. All files are gone. What? Lost everything, couldn't be more disappointed. This product lost my trust for any portable hd.

Hard drive stopped working and will not format. Definitely would not purchase again.
