This WD hard drive works very well for backups. This model is smaller than the other WDs in the plastic case. This mod number for the smaller drives starts as wdbs4b... The other ones are physically larger and heavier. I looked all over to find this model since it fits in my cases.

Onboard software was easy to setup for scheduling periodic, in my case daily backups. Complete setups took less than 30 minutes. Backup file manager was easy to use and restore worked perfectly. The only negative might be the size of the drive, however it is not an issue for my use.

I feel very good when I can back my info up. This product allows me to do that with a secure feeling

I have never had to worry about losing important files since I got this external hard drive. Just go to the storage options on your computer and tell it how frequently to update the external drive for files. A necessity for anyone who relies on their PC for school or their job.

Needed to back up hard drive and many photo files. Easy to use with plenty of storage space to help clean up my laptop.

It's a decent product. I achieved 100MB/s transfer speed when I tried to transfer data from one HDD to another. Felt like this is decent enough for me. Still works great after 4months of purchase at least. I use this one with my Xbox . Primary use it to store and watch movies

This Drive is fast and have had no problems using as a time Machine backup device for iMac. The last couple of drives I had bought for different devices had been Seagate but have not had much luck with them lasting more than a few months. I will stick with Western digital from now on!

Use as a secondary backup besides my NAS. Quiet and works fantastic on windows based machines !

This external drive is a pretty standard product. Nothing that makes it stand out, but the reputation of the company is what decided me on it. I actually bought 2, one for home and one for my office computer. A better review would be in a few years when I see how it holds up. As far as installation, etc., it was easy to "plug & play" so no issues there. Price was reasonable, and when Best Buy had a sale a week after I got it, no problem in them crediting me with the price reduction.

Good drive but I had a problem trying to back up an older laptop that still has Vista on it as it's operating system

Its a great external drive. Doesn't have to much pre-loaded stuff on it either. So thats nice

Needed a drive with sufficient capacity and not requiring extra USB ports or external power.

This is my second Passport external hard drive because each computer needs a separate unit. If you could make them able to hold the memory of at least two different computers, it would be nice.

I bought this HD after PlayStation finally realeased a firmware update for the PS4 allowing the use of an external hard drive for extended storage. I couldn't be happier with this device. Just plug in the USB cord to one of the two inputs in the PS4 and instant increase of storage.

This drive has been reliable and fast for a spinning drive. The set up is easy and it is pretty much plug and go.

I find the design of the WD Passport to be made. While it's basically a rectangle, all of the models are the same width, This leads to ease of space when on my desktop that can become rather busy. You won't find a drive of its size for a better price.

This drive gives a lot of storage for a reasonable price. I use it to backup all my videos and pictures with room to spare.
