    I purchased this portable hard drive as an insurance backup for my 2TB Seagate portable hard drive, and because it was on sale at an excellent price. This drive also comes with automatic backup software for maintaining an up to date backup of your photos, videos, and music. The drive is large enough that I also can use it as a large flash drive to keep a direct transfer copy of all my photos.

    I shopped around and considered all the other hard drives - including the higher range G Tech drives. For my purpose, the WD My Passport was the best fit. The new model of My Passport drives is also more durable and solid than the model from a few years ago. Moreover, I like the 3 year warranty which is longer than some other manufacturers. I'll buy another My Passport when this one is full.

    I'm a mac user, so I reformatted mine immediately. Works as promised. It's a standard hard drive so it won't set any speed records, but that's not its purpose. Good basic hard drive.
