I use this in conjunction with my iPad at quilt retreats to watch my recorded TV shows and movies. Works great!!
It is great that it also has the USB cable to plug into your computer for quicker loading. SD card slot is also a plus.
Very happy with it!!

I always used Seagate in the past and never had a problem. this time I got WD My Passport and I saved iMovie files that I really needed of videos I did my my youtube channel. I tested everything before I deleted from my HD on my iMac. Everything worked fine. Next day files were not there! They were there before because I tested it all. Now I'm SOL - i'm very upset and disappointed. Never had a problem with Seagate and this Passport was a lot more pricey. #TooLateNow #Sucks

The instructions and set up guide were too vague and made it too difficult to set up. Especially for someone who needs it to be quick to plug in and reliable

Like 40 days into owning it, it just died on me and it started flashing red lights. I have send it in for warranty and we shall see what happens. If they fix it or send me a new one then I will keep buying from WD products otherwise I might just get a Seagate drive next.

Wireless went out on me and got it replaced, so protection helps. Most routers have a USB slot for wireless network storage so know your options.

Product does not perform as described by sales person and 'Geek' squad representatives I spoke with. This thing is nothing more than a hard drive.

Three Star because the device does what I was looking to accomplish but it doesn't accomplish all the tasks it was designed for....read on.
WHAT IT DOES WELL: This device certainly has a convenience factor to it, otherwise I wouldn't have made the purchase. I was able to connect wirelessly to the device and access the files fairly easily and speed was very good. I'm accessing mostly documents and pic so it worked nice for that function. AND, the setup wasnt that bad either.
WHAT IT DOESNT DO WELL: This device has a 'hotspot' function which allows you to connect to your wifi through this device and be able to access the internet. Without this functions, you could connect to the Drive OR your Internet but not both. This feature allows you to do both.....WHEN it works. During initial setup of connecting the drive to my home WiFi I was able to connect to the internet. The speed wont be super super fast but fast enough that it's not a Pain-In-The-A. BUT, every subsequent restart and connection to the device, it failed to connect to my WiFi....automatically or manually!!! So I was able to access the files on the HDD but couldnt connect to the internet. After leaving the device on and connected to my laptop for 20+ minutes, it still wouldnt connect. WD needs to fix that. Thus only 3 starts. Hope this was helpful.
