It's never been dropped, so i'm not sure what the issue is, but all of a sudden.It can't be recognized by any computer.So all my photos are gone unless I pay big money for recovery service.

Does not work great with Macs

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As far as I can tell Best Buy does not sell hard drives formatted originally for Macs. This one comes with software that supposedly makes it compatible but the format does not allow use with Time Machine for backups - the software solution is not satisfactory. I reformatted it for the Mac and it mostly works but often drops off recognition and does not get backed up or the system does not see it and I have to restart the computer to make it visible again. Very annoying. After this I bought two large Mac-native-formatted drives (from another company) and both of those work great. Will never again buy a hard drive that is not formatted specifically for Mac right out of the box. This one is nice and small and probably would be great for a PC but its performance with the Mac OS leaves much to be desired. Best Buy should stock drives specifically formatted for Macs since they sell the computers.

I still prefer editing on a smaller SSD, but this drive is quick enough to edit off of if needed. Transfer speeds aren’t great compared to SSD, but that is my only gripe.

Then messaged No USB. Impossible to start up where device left off, so import begins all over resulting in duplicate files. On next try device turned off and gave Java script problem message. WD Tech Support was no help. Agent did not know device could import from OneDrive. Kept asking what software I was using and did not realize software is on the device. Suggested solution was to manually copy files from OneDrive, paste to MyPassport, then delete duplicates. This would take significant time, and what’s the point of having the device if it can’t import and files have to be copied and pasted. Returned to BestBuy.
