I've bought WD external hard drives for years. But this My Passport 4TB was a complete failure from the start. Multiple PCs and laptops failed to even recognize it. Therefore, useless.

1st one received was defective, but the tech support confirmed it defective and replaced

Have to be a geek to get it to work on my computer.

Great item ! I use it everyday with no problems if anyone needs extra storage this is what you need.

This device is easy to use and works fine. It even reminds me when I haven't backed up for a while!

Fast, easy to use, but after 5 months the drive needs to be sent in for memory recovery - very disappointed and now out the $ to recover data.

Waited 15 minutes for curbside pickup, then went into the store, waited on line since the person doing the curbside had other responsibilities. Then I was treated rudely. I am not going to be back to Best Buy when I can get the same products at Target or Amazon

It is a bit difficult to interconnect. Could be more user friendly

WD is the best for external storage. I have two of these for travel. very good

picked it for a customer, two hour round trip, the drive was DOA. I've seen a few WD usb drives, various customers purchased these from different retailers over the last year, come into my pc repair shop that have failed. I'd recommed Seagate or Crucial, or better an Enterprise class drive in a 3.5" emclosure. For Mac users, an EVO NVME or SSD is best for Time Machine, due to continuous writes (vs a HDD that endures mechanical wear). Unless you're using an Enterprise grade HDD, Always use a cloud back service as well. google: 3-2-1 backup plan.

Works fine and sdoes not take up any room. I recommend it.

I have four 8tb that works great that is why I bought this one but I’ve had to format it five times already after filling only halfway.

I am quite disappointed from this purchase. WD is a famous brand but I don’t know what is going on with this 4TB DISK. I bought this item 2.5 years ago. I am very careful using this external disk. The other day, i started organizing my files. I spent hours and organized my files. After that, I copied all organized files to my laptop as well. The next day when i used my external disk, some folders were in original condition (i.e. unorganized) and some folders were corrupted. Thank God that i have a backup on my laptop. I am not satisfied with this disk as it is not reliable. Note that i had another issue with this about a year ago. But this new issue was worse.

Fast and stable product. good for storing personal details/movies and pictures.

We needed to transfer data from an old computer to a new computer, and purchased this unit because it also has back-up capabilities. The data transfer went well on a drag & drop basis. The backup program provided by WD conflicts with Windows 11 (apparently a known problem that has not been fixed in a couple of years). I'm just going to live with One Drive as a back-up for now.

The device did not load properly. I had to have the Geed Squad install it for me. A previous version had stopped working, so I needed to replace it.
