It's working well so far with reasonable read and write speeds. Hardware encryption is included as well. I wish it had USB-C port!

The Geek support was excellent and they backed up my computer.

Reformatted with Exfat and didn't work on a mac. Then, disk repair utility, managed to fix it but it took several attempts. Now seems to work, but I'm not gonna trust it and have secondary backups.

Probably not BB fault, but it was old technology. The USB cord attached to WD Passport, that I 'attempted' to plug into a 1-year-old Dell laptop computer, was the same one sold 5 years ago for my old computer. WD, I have always loved your external hard drives, but I returned this one because you told me I could order an upgraded USB connector from your site. Do you really expect people to spend $130 on old technology, attempt to hook it up, only to find out they need to order a new adapter because you failed to add to a 2021 piece of technology???

When I received my Best Buy package in the mail, I was shocked to see that the hard drive was mailed in a thin bubble mailer, not a box. To top it off, there wasn't a single shred of packing material anywhere to be found in the envelope. Frankly, there is no possible way that a hard drive can sustain the rigors of shipping without being packaged properly, and my order most certainly was not packaged appropriately. I gave it a shot anyway though to hopefully prove myself wrong. Sure enough, when I plugged the hard drive into my computer, all that can be heard is a loud clicking sound and the computer will not read the hard drive. This hard drive has experienced a mechanical failure and is DOA. I understand that mistakes can sometimes happen, but my order was obviously packaged without any care whatsoever. I have never experienced such a poorly packaged online order, and this hard drive didn't have a chance of making it to me unscatched, given the inadequate packaging. I reached out to Best Buy via e-mail (and attempted chat and phone, though the hold lines were impossible to get through) and offered to accommodate the return of the hard drive. NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. I had no other choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company, as Best Buy refuses to communicate with me, and I will not continue to pay for a damaged hard drive.

Decent hard drive. Software on the drive wouldn't install and I had to install from the manufacturers website.

I think the external hard drive is OK but why didn't WD provide clear instructions on how to set it up with Windows 10? If it is set up to do the backup in the middle of the night the problem is that my computer goes to "sleep" after 30 minutes of inactivity but of course I don't want the back-up to take place while I'm in the middle of working with with my computer.

You can never have too many backup. Come in two colors.
