Works great as a back up drive however the software that came with it was not useful. Now he does a manual backup of new files every day.

There is not much to say in reviewing an external hard drive. There is only a really cool point about this hd. It has small plastic feet under the body which helps keeping the drive slightly elevated from the desk and keeping the drive secure in its place.

This drive is great. It has lots of space and is easy to use. I didn't give it five stars because it appears somewhat slow to connect.

After having a problem with a Desktop hard drive and my online backup didnt work as well as I thought, I leave this plugged in and set to auto backup my desktop PC. The fact that it can also travel with me as portable storage is a bonus. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Formatted for a Mac with exFat with very small allocation unit sizes this works perfect and acts as a good storage go-between PC/Mac.

great addition for any game console for extra storage. just format and plug it in and you're good to go.

It took some time to figure out but easy to use once I got going Still more difficult to figure out the free cloud storage

Did everything I needed it to do plenty of space for all our catalog games as well as room for new ones to be added

I'm using this drive to backup my Western Digital 4TB network attached storage. I connected it to the USB 3 port on the NAS and the drive came right up. I used the built-in backup utility in the NAS to create an image backup on this drive. Everything worked seamlessly.

As technology improves, we look forward to products that we've long been anticipating. In my case, I was looking forward to an inexpensive, quick multi-terabyte, portable hard drive & boom, here it is. Orange color is cool too. You won't regret this purchase if you need quick massive backup.

Used for about a month now. No problem so far. It works quite well, and generates no noise. Just not a good design.

I've been using Western Digital hard drives for the past couple of decades, and I have had no issues with them. I do try and replace hard drives at least every 5 years and keep multiple backups (hard drives) in case one of them crashes (but it's never happened).

I don't use this for primary storage (although I could; it seems fast enough). Instead, I synchronize files from my desktop, and place the drive in a fireproof safe for backup. I also have a smaller SSD USB drive to backup files I use more frequently.

I got this just in time! Love having a 4TB backup. The writing speeds are usually around 100+mbps. It’s great!

In general, this is a quiet and fast drive. I use it to back up data on my iMac (currently running macOS Mojave). However, if I leave it connected for a day or so, it will un-gracefully unmount itself (this may be a driver issue or related to the WD app). Repeated instances of this can corrupt the directory. Thus, I have to remember to unmount it after I back up or restore data. Knowing that (and the workaround), I find the drive a decent value.

Huge storage device that provides the size for just about any application space. A small box giving the space you need!

Purchased this for extra storage for my PC always a good brand and never had any problems with this types of drives

Purchased to add additional storage to Nvidia Shield Plex Server to store/record media to. Has worked well so far.

I was worried about buying anything over 2TB due to many fails from heavy usage and access. Let me tell you this thing takes a licking and keeps ticking. I have used this to back up an entire lab full of machines and even wiped and started over to test durability!! Gets my thumbs up.
