I've had Passports before with no issue, so after trying to unsuccessfully trying to set up a backup I called Western Digital. They finally said that sometimes the software can't recognize the unit. They offered an exchange. Best Buy won't do it because it was past their stingy 15 days. So I will mail it to WD for the exchange and try again.

I wish this used USB C with a faster interface than standard SATA3. But it works as advertised except for the automatic backup software. It fails every time I try to set it up. So it's been deleted in favor of a little bit more space (not much). I'm weekly transferring files to back up photos. I wish it didn't have the glossy finish which scratches a little easy putting this in my backpack for travel.

This is my replacement of WD - My Passport external HD. My first one was 2TB, but it only worked for 2 years before it failed completely. I lost all backup data, because I could not access the HD or even open it. I used it as a time machine to backup data. The new one is a similar model but 4TB. So far, it works well and hope it will keep working!

A lot of space for a small package. While shooting raw photos I need as much storage on the go as possible and this drive does everything I need it to. From 4K video to raw files

I like that it is powered thru the usb cable. No messy power cords. The password protect is a neat feature that is easy to use. Just don’t forget your password or you will need to reformat the drive losing all your data.

Fast file transfer and lightweight for portability.

Not much to say, other than that it's a quick device, and the available software/utilities are actually fairly useful. There were slightly better deals for other hard drives, but I didn't mind paying a little extra for this one in yellow.

I wanted to replace older 1 GB back up drives and this unit gives me that at a good price

Perfect for what its designed to do which is back up and store files. Comes right on when you plug it in and is quiet while running. No need for power cable since it runs off of your computer power. And I got it on sale!

This is a well constructed device and it lives up to the western digital quality. I have loaded 2TB onto the drive with no issues and it does not heatup like some of my portables have in the past Thanks WD for making solid products

Installation was easy, working great ... doing its job. Great value for the money.

Very reliable, I use those hard drives now for a while as back up and making images of all of my three computers/laptops. Speed improved compared to previous models. A must buy for anyone who needs external hard drive space.

Most of the WD products work very well. The WD drives do what they are suppose to do, to save photo pictures regardless if they are RAW or high resolution, you name it.

Handy size and excellent read / write speeds. Attractive gb/price ratio too.
