My backup drive for my Mac's was running out of space and I had quite a few Best Buy bonus points because of a large purchase so I looked to see what was available. This particular model was on sale so I went for it, knowing full well I'd have to reformat it (it came, of course, formatted for Windows.) I had a little trouble getting it reformatted -- no fault of the drive, just that some parts of OS X's disk utility were a little less intuitive than I'd expected. Sorry, I don't remember the particular sequence of steps needed to accomplish the task, suffice it to say it can be done with a little perseverance.

I have numerous USB drives from 500 Mb to 2 Tb and files scattered between them. This offers a solution where I can organize and consolidate my files across many old projects.

This drive is very reliable and has fast read/write speeds for transferring data. I use them for video editing and they do not bottle-neck the video editing process.

I needed a 4 TB ext. drive to start a client project, and didn't want to wait on my normally supplier which takes about a week. Retail price for a 4 TB was really good on sale.

Bought this and it is compatible with pc and Mac, however be careful because on Mac it is read only. Maybe there is a way to edit it on Mac as well but I have not found out how. This may be on the specs but I did not pay a lot it attention when I purchased it.

Use this as a cheap offline backup of files on a server. Works great. Performs well and doesn't run too hot. Our company is now using 2 of these. I recommend.
