it is not plug and play , need to forma it before plus from 5tb only gives me 5gb capacity . never ever buying that brand anymore

Unfortunately, I never was able to format, initialize, or partiton the disk at all. It sounded like it was bad, honestly, it kept making a buzzing sound even after the assumed sounds of first plugin. I may try a different kind of this brand, since I’ve seen many other positive reviews. I was trying to use it with Windows 11 OS, btw.

This is something you really need if the other break Need to order a new, cannot repair.

I have a 5TB WD drive that I needed to replicate. After buying this drive and copying everything to it, I began using it as my primary drive. This past week the drive started making clicking sounds. As I started copying everything from this drive to another 5TB drive, I experienced read issues. The only way I can copy files from this drive is to do it in small batches

Lost all my transferred files after weeks of use. All of sudden, my computer did not recognize the HD then I took at GEEEK who checked and told that there was no data it. I was suggested to go for SSD which it is much better technology. Sales agents should warn the clients like me who was not aware of. Had I knew before, I would opt for a better one. Lost $$$ and most importantly, I lost all my data.

DO NOT BUY A WD ORTBL HARD DRIVE! I have had 2 of them fail causing me to lose 2 YEARS' WORTH of whale and bear photographs!!!!! I would NEVER BUY this brand 00 and ever again! :) Pay the $400 and get a 4 TP waterproof/ crush proof/ dust proof San disc external hard drive that has the little range hole allowing it to be attached with a carabiner! THEY are way safer to use!!!!!

Could not use with new MacBook Pro. Researched for help and tried multiple suggestions and other than having to change multiple setting with my new laptop there was no easy way of using this particular Passport. Returned and bought the WD-My Passport for Mac and it installed without any issues or stress!

Not a reliable drive. Didn't work out of the box. That's a lot of storage to fit in a notebook hard drive. Too good to be true. stick with a full size drive for this amount of storage.

I bought this hard drive 15 months ago. I created 4 partitions. Within a couple of months one of the partitions, the one I used for TimeMachine backup, failed. The other 3 were going along fine until today. 2 of the partitions failed. Now I have to copy everything over to a new device which I still have to buy. I use these for all my files especially photos.

Installation was quick and easy. It's such an important thing to do.

Extremely unreliable. I bought it in October and it's already failed by the end of March. It was barely used. Never buy WD. EVER.

As soon as I plugged it in, I heard it clicking and knew that wasn't a good sign. Tried going into the diagnostics and hoped maybe my PC wasn't reaching the drive properly. That was a fail. I installed the Western Digital Discovery and still, nothing. I plugged in both of my other external hard drives with the same USB cord and both worked immediately. This drive never stood a chance. Getting my money back.

This only lasted me a year & now my computer won’t even recognize it and I’ve lost ALLL of the photos and documents I had saved on it,

Using on iMac. Works… but I have to reset every 2 weeks, stops backing up

Giving this a low rating due to the motherboard failing. I lost 4tb of information. I will be returning this item as soon as I get it back from the tech shop.

Bought this in May 2020 and for the last 4-5 months I've been having issues with it. It just doesn't stay connected anymore. I've tried a new wire and everything for it. Nothing has fixed it and it's now either non-working or on it's way out. I kept important documents and pictures on it, so now I'm out of those unless I can fix it somehow. Super disappointing.
