This is a great backup drive. Works great for that purpose but I would recommend their desktop drives for daily use due to fast higher performance. This drive is more for travel and media storage or backups rather than heavy writing.

Better for Laptop backup or mobile photo backup. Currently also offering 500 GB WD cloud storage subscription for 1 year. Also provides recovery software with 1 year license. You need to buy type B to type cable separately if want to use in Mac.

I love how small it is and that it holds so much..

Five stars for external design (can be slipped into the breast pocket of a jacket), connections (a short USB 3.0 cord is provided but no need for a separate power supply), and immediate use (if Windows, it's just plug and play). Minus two stars for failure to include promised "quick install guide" (only the user agreement is in the packaging), the failure of WD's support site to provide download for instructions, the incompatibility of this drive with Bitlocker (I wanted to use Windows Pro's security to be consistent with my other external drives, but it won't work with this drive), and glitches when installing the WD utilities (had to force the install when it claimed it couldn't find its own EXE files). That said, it's a very handy little device. I wound up using the WD encryption utility and then tried it on a different computer that didn't have the WD utilities. Plugging it in automatically triggered a request to launch the unlock utility and it worked just fine on the new PC. Recommended if you aren't planning on using Bitlocker for drive encryption. Fantastic build, easy to just throw in a bag and always have storage on the go.

This external has a great amount of storage and runs fairly quickly all for a pretty decent price point.

I love the product. I'm an avid gamer and need more space for storage due to larger game files. I would recommend this external drive for Xbox series and PS5 game systems. Not a bad price for HDD and more storage space versus 2 TB SSD.
