My Passport 5TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Black ~ small, compact, and 5 TBs! Great external hard drive for the price

I have been buying WD external drives for years. I have never had a problem. Always make sure to eject it properly. I do and I think that is why I have never had an issue.

I have a home server with over 80TB of storage capacity. Recently I lost the ability to connect to it over my home network. As it serves as network storage for all my music, movies, photos and some personal files. Having lost all network connections to the server, I have been unable to stream or access any of my stored data. Until I figure out what's going on with the server, I decided to buy this portable drive as an interim solution, and have begun to store my data on it by slowly downloading some of the accessible data on the server. I have then "shared" that data on the network so that I can access it from any device connected to the network and it has functioned perfectly! Once accessed on any device, streaming is seamless and fast. I have moved a ton of stuff to this drive and when I check "properties", very little memory is used up.

I also have the older 4TB My Passport and this version is better in every way (faster, smaller, higher capacity). I haven't had any issues with is thus far (after about 5-6 months of use) and it's serving its purpose well as an encrypted AFP fileshare. Never had any issues with Western Digital yet and these 2.5" drives tolerate heat much better than similar Seagate drives from what I've experienced. I didn't touch any of the included software.

My kids love the ease of use for their Playstation 5. It works great. The kids download a lot of games. Fortnite updates a lot so i got for them the 5TB. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Fast transfers also from the PS5 to the external hard drive. Thank you for making such a great product...

Easy set-up with no issues we've experienced so far. Using it on the PS5 for the direly needed extra space. Really happy with it.

I've bought several of these over the years and have always found them reliable, plug and play, easy to store, and good value of memory for the money.

I’ve always preferred Western Digital when shopping for external or internal memory. The quality of the product for the price is unmatched. Easy to setup and use, even for those that are not very familiar with hard drives. I also have a couple of SSD drives from Western Digital that work great too, just with much less memory. The 5 TB’s should provide more than enough memory for the average user and yet even packed with all that memory it is still easy to transport and use with other devices. I would definitely recommend this product.

Lots of storage for a great price. Easy to set up and use. Perfect size to throw in laptop bag or backpack.

I've never owned one these before, but I bought this because friend recommended it. So far it has done exactly what it's meant to do. I put all my programs, videos and large files on here (many gigabyte) and there is still waaaay too much space on here and it's so compact. When I seen it from unpacking it, it was very small from what I had pictured. My friend has had his for more than a decade and it works like new, or so he tells me. But this is the brand he recommended and we'll see in 10 years.

Perfect for my needs. Can password lock my data. Easy to use and just the right size. The default password is always the last 8 digits of the Serial number in the device. Took me a while to figure out but hope this will help others.

I had low expectations as nothing seems as good as it is advertised to be. I was mistaken. This little powerhouse of an external drive is amazing. It’s a little smaller length wise than my iPhone X but unbelievable in its performance. I got the 5 TB drive and I was able to completely free up tons of space from my laptop by placing almost everything on the drive. The lil WD Passport is compact, and works like a workhorse. Backups can be done daily or whenever you schedule them. Folks this one is a winner.

The overall design and capability of the product is good, but does get hot relatively easily when plugged in, even if active use isn’t occurring. An app on any device this is used on does hinder the overall experience, but not so much that it drops my rating down any further. Good and reliable!

Small in size but holds a lot of data. Great for the price I paid. I take everywhere to share my thousands of photos.
