Works great, stays cool

It works great and stays cool. Draws power via USB thus no need for a power cable.

Would prefer these drives to be SSD, but I suppose that's not something to held against this model knowing it's an HDD. Use this with a MAC, so be sure to format correctly out of the box.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been an avid Western Digital (WD) enthusiast/purchaser for many years, but lately I have had unsatisfactory results from their products. This HD in particular quit working around 9-10 months of very limited use. It does not initialize anymore and to retrieve the data, a company wants to charge upwards of $1250 just for the beginning of the process, this company was recommended by WD. I am told, if purchased through WD, there is an option to purchase a data recovery plan with them, but not sure how good that would be. I think that because of the limited use and the short amount of time owned, WD or Best Buy should step up to provide data recovery and to replace with a new one at the very least, as this is still under warranty. I have been having better luck with Seagate, so I think I will be transferring over to them after years of dedicated loyalty to WD.

I've never had an issue with these exact memory units. I've had my 1tb harddrive for about 2yrs now and it still works with no issues. I use these to store my YouTube videos. So for what I use it for, it's perfect!
