I have purchased 3-4 of these over the years and have had zero issues with them, which is why I bought another one. I can't even use it because it is making me download a program on my computer to run it, then it has made me download two other separate programs for whatever reason. Even after going through all of these ridiculous steps, it still isn't letting me put anything on the hard drive. I have never had this issue before, and I have never had to download anything before other than the WD discovery app, If I buy an external hard drive, I want to be able to easily save things to it without having to go through a million steps, and this is not that. I wish I was within the return timeframe because I'd like to get my money back, but I'm just going to throw away this piece of junk since it doesn't work.

Got this as a birthday gift for my husband. I don't know much about the tech side but he is LOVING it!

Very fast file transfer. Big files can be transferred easily between several devices.

Well hopefully this review will be useful to MAC users. I originally purchased this WD - My Passport 5tb usb3.0 drive. After I got home I noticed I did not grab the right box at Best Buy where they had two drives side by side in the Apple section of the store. This drive does state it will work with MAC's but you have to reformat it. I just did not want to wait around for a 5tb drive to format as it will take quite a long time. I was also concerned if there was anything wrong with the drive after reformatting, would BB allow it to be returned. Therefore, I ran back to the store and exchanged it for the WD - My Passport 4tb usb3.0 for MAC. I did opt to give up 1tb just for the piece of mind knowing the drive was plug and play.

Works as expected. Great for archiving as it is an old drive that is slow, but it works!

A must for people backing up pictures. You always need at least one backup hard drive.

Thought I needed a 5TB hard drive for all our movies. Seems maybe 1TB would have done the trick.
