My last one was a complete waste of money, and my data was lost with it, but options were limited when replacing, Am shopping for a different brand currently.

I purchased this 2 months ago. The harddrive is already clicking and failing to be read by the computer. I used this harddrive to backup everything i own Family Photos/Video everything. I contacted WesternDigital only to be told the harddrive would be replaced (how reassuring when i could be sent another defective one) and that they will not provide help for Data Recovery. Not everyone has a backup plan when the product is suppose to work and was the backup of data in the 1st place. I am done with HDD drives. Very expensive to move over to SSD but I have to do it. Bestbuy should stop putting WD products on store shelves if this is the customer support we are going to get from people losing important data because WesternDigital simply does not give a darn

Used as external storage for PS4. Good capacity at a great price, but maybe I just got a lemon. Never had issues before with WD, so I'll just write this off as a bad one.

I was so excited with this laptoo and it looks a new laptop. However, the monitor is damaged. It is blinking. Returned.

I am able to get a backup but still uncomfortable how it works even after contacting WD tech support. Definitely not for the non-techie types, ME.

This was on sale. Not sure I’ll buy this brand again. It had drive errors within 6 months and I had to reformat it after buying another drive and offloading all the content. Don’t trust it.

Difficult to download backup procedures on laptop and really slow. I probably would have returned but it worked well enough to not bother with the hassle.

This thing kind of a headache to set up on a iMac. I have to unplug and re plug it in at times just to use it.

Thing vibrates my desk. Its slow to unload and upload as well.

For years I’ve had a Seagate back up drive. It had a dashboard which you basically set up automatic back ups on and could check on it. Basically just plug-in and go. I was expecting the same thing for this western digital back up. I was wrong. There were no instructions and you had to go online to download some sort of formatting operation before you could use it. It was too complicated to even figure that part out so I packed it up and I’m returning it.

Works as advertised except it says it has password protection and even my IT contractor who helped install it could not find it.

Make sure to back up. Mine lasted about a month and a half. For no apparent reason I could no longer read any of the files on it. Attempting to do so would lock up my entire system. I'll update this if the warranty experience is pleasant at all.

Great harddrive but it isn't compatible with the new Apple M1 processor. I had to return for that reason but otherwise I love this product.

No activity light, so cannot determine if it is turned on / off, working or not. Disappointing, returned. Thanks BestBuy.

Usb still older style thought it was usb c but not

The size of the drive is a value, but unfortunately WD does not supply any back-up software. The only current system is for Me to drag and drop. NOT good. The did send me to their web site for a back-up package, but it doesn't function on Windows !!.

So far so good. Keeping fingers crossed. The last one crapped out in only a few months use.
