||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been an avid Western Digital (WD) enthusiast/purchaser for many years, but lately I have had unsatisfactory results from their products. This HD in particular quit working around 9-10 months of very limited use. It does not initialize anymore and to retrieve the data, a company wants to charge upwards of $1250 just for the beginning of the process, this company was recommended by WD. I am told, if purchased through WD, there is an option to purchase a data recovery plan with them, but not sure how good that would be. I think that because of the limited use and the short amount of time owned, WD or Best Buy should step up to provide data recovery and to replace with a new one at the very least, as this is still under warranty. I have been having better luck with Seagate, so I think I will be transferring over to them after years of dedicated loyalty to WD.
