WD is the best for external storage. I have two of these for travel. very good

Not a bad drive. Hate the case. No more rubber feet and color matched cable. Cheap! Make sure to download the latest security lock program to enable drive locking. Older program did not recognize drive. Ditto to unlocking and diagnostic program.

I've bought WD external hard drives for years. But this My Passport 4TB was a complete failure from the start. Multiple PCs and laptops failed to even recognize it. Therefore, useless.

Works fine and sdoes not take up any room. I recommend it.

The passport is easy to use. It is just like using a thumb drive. Just drag what you want to backup to the opened window and it is added.

I am sure that not all of them are defective, but mine was. Unfortunately by the time I used it for the first time, it was too late to return it to Best Buy. I tried it on 3 different computers and none of them would recognize it. I tried everything that WD website suggested, but no luck. :(

I have four 8tb that works great that is why I bought this one but I’ve had to format it five times already after filling only halfway.

This is definitely NOT a "plug & play" device for Mac users. It involves downloading third party software, and then booting up the Mac in Recovery mode, and eliminating some of Apple's security functions on the Mac, so the third party software can add file extensions to the Mac's files. Not only is this a big pain in the butt, but it makes me uneasy. I've had problems associated with applications adding extensions to my files in the past. This external hard drive may work well for Windows users, I don't know, but I would not recommend it for Mac. I'm going to return it. And then I'll have to figure out how to uninstall the stuff it added to my hard drive...

picked it for a customer, two hour round trip, the drive was DOA. I've seen a few WD usb drives, various customers purchased these from different retailers over the last year, come into my pc repair shop that have failed. I'd recommed Seagate or Crucial, or better an Enterprise class drive in a 3.5" emclosure. For Mac users, an EVO NVME or SSD is best for Time Machine, due to continuous writes (vs a HDD that endures mechanical wear). Unless you're using an Enterprise grade HDD, Always use a cloud back service as well. google: 3-2-1 backup plan.

This drive stopped working after about three months of use, and the company that created it (WD) can't even process simple requests. I've been trying to submit an RMA for HOURS now, but every single time I finish the process it resets itself and goes back to the very beginning. It's not allowing me to fill out the information to get it replaced or refunded, I would NEVER recommend this company or product to anybody. As soon as I get this refunded (because I don't trust the replacement to work properly) I'm going with a different company.

I am having trouble backing up my computer. I did a 'mirror' when I initially did the backup, now my computer doesn't recognize this drive.

Fast and stable product. good for storing personal details/movies and pictures.

The drive does not have rubber grippy feet on the bottom. Constantly worried is going to fall on to the floor.
