This hd is not great! I ordered one and it crashed on me losing some digital media.

It's a hard drive! Works great. Priced a little higher than I'd like.

I have used it for over a month. Then I started getting on screen message about a RAID issue. Diagnose it with the installed WD software and it said failed, used disk utility to reformat it. After the process the Time Machine recognized it right away but the drive just died after a few minutes, getting this message that the drive "cannot be read". I did some research and it turns out, a lot of users were having this RAID issue.

This is sold as a "Mac ready" drive. I have had issues with error messages and WD support has not been much of an assistance. It keeps giving a "RAID CONFIGURATION ISSUE" MESSAGE" and WD support has been of no help except to tell me that it is not for Mac, it is for Windows, despite the fact that it is labeled as for Mac.

It's okay for now.I really haven't had an opportunity to utilize it.

I put all of my photos and videos of people who have passed on, irreplaceable items, legal documents and the drive now does not appear on ANY computer. Do NOT buy this product.

Got this when I bought my MacBook. But it had numerous error messages and locked up the computer. Returned it. Western digital used to be a good brand. What happened?

My laptop was full and needed an external storage. Am still not sure about the cloud due to security reasons so we added this. We backup documents as needed. It automatically starts when plugged in.

I needed an external drive for my MacBook Pro because I wanted to start running Time Machine since I keep a lot of irreplaceable photos and information on my MacBook so I started looking at portable drives. I wanted something I could possibly use for my iTunes and Photos libraries as well to free up space on the MBP's SSD. After dealing with how long it takes a windows machine to format a large hard drive I decided to spring for the few extra bucks and get a Mac formatted external and settled on the WD My Passport for Mac in a 1 TB size. As it turns out Macs are much more efficient with formatting and partitioning so I probably could have bought the "regular" version but I love how this one has the same colors and materials and just seems to look like it belongs next to the MacBook. I'm really impressed with this little drive so far. One of the things I love, is that it doesn't require an external power source, it runs off the USB port itself and even when the laptop is closed, the drive is able to run backups. I was able to set up a partition for Time Machine and keep the rest of the drive open for music, photos, videos and important documents and still have plenty of room to grow. I make extra backups with flash drives or SD cards of the REALLY important things since I know no drive is bullet proof but the quiet operation of this Passport really gives me confidence in it. The older external drives I've owned were always noisy and sounded like they were ready to crash at any minute. Most of the time I don't even realize this one it running except for the little white blinking light. I'm glad I got this guy for my MacBook because one can never have too many backups!

A small , convenient 1 tb external hard drive to back up your Mac. Easy to hook up and weighs very little. Easy enough to carry with you when traveling.

I was looking for something that was not too big, to carry around with me to keep all my school, and music files on. This item is the perfect size, as well as ease of use!

Family owns 7 of these including those for Mac and Windows. Very good product and well worth the price for the reliability and peach of mind it offers.

This is just the right amount of storage for the size to carry around with you. Won't add anymore weight to your laptop bag.

I bought these to replace a couple of hard drives that still run on USB 2.0. The drive is small for easy portability. Transfer rate using the included USB 3.0 cable is fast, depending on the size to be backup but comparing it to the 2.0, the job was done in half the time. I intend to use this till the next technology of USB or whatever will be next come along.

Purchased 6 month ago, because my MacAir was full. It is really very helpful 1TB it is more then enough to store my all picture and memory from my computer.Thanks
