purchased open box unit to save a lil $ , it connects at usb 3 speed but it's no SSD, so much slower transfer than I'm used to. I guess I'm spoiled for speed.

Not sure if it was a MAC thing or the HD was just slow at doing the back up but it took a long time to transfer files to the drive.

This drive is Ok but not very fond of it. Would have bought a different product not a great quality

Perhaps I just got a rare bad drive. Certainly possible. Was using it as a Mac Time Machine backup drive, so it sat untouched on my desk, and was connected to my laptop for routine automated backups. About half the drive was filled when it started to make regular chirping noises, then started to be inaccessible to Time Machine. I wiped it and started over, but it happened again, after just a few days. WD return policy is time consuming - apply for return authorization (that part was OK), get the right boxing, bubble wrap, pay to ship it back, wait to get a replacement. Anyhow - has not been a positive experience.

Working on trying to figure out everything this product offers.

This hard drive is fairly durable. It comes formatted for Mac.

Extremely difficult instructions, directs you to online forums that could take many hours of reading and won't get your product installed.

I have used this hard drive for about 10 months and my computer is not detecting the hard disk. I will not buy this item again.

I thought this would free up space on my computer but it didn't do much

Needed it to go back and forth between the Mac book I bought and my PC at work. The BB staff recommended this product, but I had to spend hours with someone (non BB) to help me set it up for both. Needless to say, it's useless product now.

This was exchanged for a Passport PC. The Geek squad got me the wrong unit when they set up my new HP Laptop. I am still waiting for the right unit and a computer in repair, that Geek has had 14 day's or more

Recommended by Best Buy assistant – it's the one he owns. Seems to be all he made it out to be.

Does not work for Mac and Pc, I wanted to use on both and was told to buy this one.

This external drive is a good deal. I use it with my own backup software and not that of the manufacturer.

I have used a previous generation of this drive (WD's My Passport) as a bootable clone drive for several years. Recently, Drive Genius began reporting errors on the drive. Not wanting to take a chance with my clone drive being bad when I need it, I replaced it with this drive. The PC version of this drive comes in several colors. The Mac version only comes in black for some reason. As a Mac user, I'm used to there not being a Mac version of a product available and having to buy the PC version and "deal with it." And usually I get charged more if there's a Mac version of the product. For hard drives, the only difference usually is how the drive is formatted. It was a pleasant surprise, then, to find a Mac-formatted version of the drive for the same price as the PC version. And the Mac drive has Mac disk utilities preloaded on the drive. So far, very happy with the drive.

holds my games perfectly, when playing on my PS5, it doesn't take any of my main storage.

Worked perfectly! I purchased this back-up device since I recently had hard drive trouble with my MacBook Pro (circa 2011). The Seagate device that I was using would no longer back up my Mac, nor would an old 1Click device. I wasn't sure if it was time for a new Mac (which it still might be), but $58 was worth the gamble if I could back-up my current one. The first back-up took about 5 hours, but it worked perfectly! I am totally happy with this. I'm writing this review because I purchased this product based on reviews that others posted. Great product. Highly recommend.
