Bought this item to back up photos on a laptop computer. It would not accept separate data. I could not pick and choose what data I wanted to back up. It would only let me back up the entire computer.

Great as a backup drive for my old MacBook Pro 2011 model. I only have USB 2.0 port to plug this into but it works just fine for weekly backups of my laptop. Small and easy to keep in my laptop bag for travel. This is my second one and my original drive is still running great after several years. Just filled it up and wanted to add a new one instead of deleting old archives. Already fomatted for Mac so ready to go out of the box. Recommend this for any Mac user. I highly recommend regular backups since it's easy to restore your system should the primary internal disk fail and you need to recover everything quickly when a new drive is installed. That happened to me last year. Glad I keep regular backups since I restored my system with no problems using the external drive once my new internal drive was replaced. Great small drive to keep for system backups and piece of mind. I make all of my external backup drives bootable and these work fine for that task. Even though I don't run these all the time I think the hardware is reliable enough to do it if I chose to. I have run FileVault 2 encryption on them which can take a couple of days straight to complete encryption on such big drives. Drive doesn't get hot during this burn in period.

Absolutely the worst. I only had it for a month before it completely stopped working. What was a $100 investment turned into a $500 investment to get all of my files restored off of this and transferred to another hard drive that is NOT WD!

WD drives tend to fail on me every time within the first two years. This one is no exception, it's already stopped loading when I plug it in to any computer. It's the last one I bought and now I only buy Lacie drives.

I was able to do only one backup of my computer. Now the My Passport doesn't work anymore. I have a call into Apple tech support to give me some help with it. It was what the sales person suggested to buy.

I will be traveling for a year and i got this to go with my macbook air 11 inch 256GB. This passport is specifically for the Macbook and it has 2TB which is far more than enough but worth it. I would hate to not have enough space. With this it is unlimited.

Perfect for my son to take to college. No worries with a back up like this, plenty of room for any/all of his current computer. Easy to use, USB 3.0, so no worries with speed, just an overall great product. Would choose WD over Seagate (and have in the past) ... had Seagate external drives fail on me, so I didn't want that to happen to him!

I bought this drive because I didn't want to clutter my laptops hard drive with pictures and music. This provides plenty of storage for both. It easy links up to my MacBook Pro. Transfers are a breeze. This hard drive will definitely provide plenty of space.

I purchased to transfer my iPhoto library to next computer. At first my computer said four days and seven hours to transfer 75000 photos and 2000 videos... Sweet just what I wanted to read...woke up next morning and it said five hours Was done by the time I got home from work! Looks good, performs well, still have room to add more, so don't have complaints!

This portable hard drive packs a punch! It's whisper quiet, and adequately fast! What a great value for the price! It's also aesthetically pleasing, as it matches my iMac. Love it!

passport works perfect for the Mac, it is my second one and I will definitely be purchasing more in he future!

Very simple to use and backup my info on my iMac. Now will be easier to transfer files when I upgrade my iMac.

The drive is small and compact. So, it was perfect in size to travel. I use it on my iMac, and I keep getting RAID warnings, which do not come on macs, when I check on how to resolve. After they pop up, the drive fails to back-up. The only way to make it stop once was to reformat the drive, but I can't do that, again, because I lose my previous back-ups.

Used the My Passport drive to move files from one Mac to another and the hard drive worked perfectly without a hitch!

I've never seen a disk drive that copies date this slowly... plus, I am CONSTANTLY getting error messages when copying a lot of data, have to go back and manually copy smaller amounts of data at a time. Very inconvenient... Left it overnight copying about 300 GB of data, next morning, only 16GB had been copied due to some sort of nondescript error which stopped the copying in it's 'tracks', this after it first telling me it was going to take EIGHT DAYS to copy everything. I'll keep the drive as it's now got most of what I want on it, but it's taking nearly a week to transfer what should have been done in 2 overnight sessions.

Great addition to my tech you stuff...no worries about the ability of the drive

Great that HD is already formatted even though it's not hard to do.

This hard drive constantly says it is not backing up and is only a month old.
