    My older external drive is an WD brand and I've been happy with it. I purchased this WD external drive for the new iMac I bought at the same time. What a difference in size!! My old one is the size of a thick book; this one is the size of a deck of cards and takes up much less room on my desk. I will be using it as a Time Machine backup to my new iMac.

    I connected the drive via Time Machine on my Mac. The initial backup took awhile as expected, but successive backups have been quick. I use three drives. This is my second Western Digital drive. Both have been fast and reliable. I do quite a bit of photography, so I’m very concerned about my drives reliability. Neither of my WD drives have given me any reason to worry.

    I’ve been relying on one back up, but I have to keep mobile with it due to the amount of data that I need to have with me. I bought a secondary unit so that I can’t keep it safely at my home office. This was a good buy.
