Still haven’t been able to use it. Takes way too long to transfer.

not a good one or I am still too new to the pc and accessories world. I will however request repair or new one if I can't get it to work. it rarely is recognized which is frustrating. I normally love WD products but this just may be a bad apple in the bunch

I read awful reviews on this product AFTER I purchased it- but the deal breaker was that it wasn't even compatible with my Software- I asked so many questions at the Best Buy Store- the salesperson should have asked me what software I use to make sure I was buying a hard drive that would actually work for me. FAILED GRADE.

It’s not plug & play for Big Sur. It’s not even. USB 3.0…… requires adapter. After WD was no use called Apple who guided me through process to get it up & running. Had error message after WD installation FAILD.

I haven’t been able to get it to work. Instructions are not easy to follow. Thought I could just connect and back up my Mac. Not as advertised. I would not recommend this product.

Poor instructions! Couldn’t find any! Being elderly easy of use and clear instructions very important!

The setup was a bit challenging as it took a while for the application to launch. I clicked on the executable file for Mac a few times. Then when I was about to call it quits, it launched.

I had Great expectations for a Mac formatted external drive, Unfortunately once it was attached it was not recognized by my system. Numerous attempts at reboot ended in failure. I bought this WEstern Digital on the brand’s reputation. WD has never failed me before. Returned the product for a full refund and bought an SSD instead.

I'm a photographer and I export all my galleries to this external hard drive. One night it somehow got corrupted and ALL my files are gone. Geek Squad couldn't fix it. Thankfully all the final albums are stored online as well but I had to say goodbye to all my RAWs and almost $300 (trying to recover them and buying a new one). DO NOT PURCHASE. Or if you do make sure you back up your RAWs again. I also only had it for 3 months, and it had zero physical damage to it.

very hard to get it working had phone support for an hour, and they could not make it work. two weeks to the next available appointment with tech. I returned the product.

This is a backup drive. What is there to say? Well, it's tiny, about the size of a standard playing card. And it's blue- which makes it easy to identify for me (I have more than a few of these type of things floating around). So this does come with software through WD to assist with the backup process, but I decided to use this with my Macbooks' built in time machine for that purpose. And yes, that is Macbooks, plural. As each of them have 500 GB or less of HD space, I partitioned the drive with the Mac's disc utility into two 1 TB drives, labeled for each laptop. Easy peasy. Now I just make a point to hook up to each laptop once every couple of days, and everything works like a charm. The initial backup will take a bit- a couple hours each, for me- but subsequent backups take only a couple of minutes, as long as you don't wait too long in between. The drive itself is small enough to fit easily into the laptop bag, but I keep it in my desk drawer (no point in having a backup if you lose your bag with both it and the computer...). My only quibble- which isn't unique to this drive- is that I wish they would use a standard cable (USB-C, or mini/micro) to connect to the drive, rather than a proprietary connector. I do worry about the cable becoming lost or broken... But really, this is a great option for the price.

Completely stopped working out of nowhere. Just won’t connect at all now so I no longer have access to my files.

Worked great for all of 3 days before the drive failed. 20 hours of loading pictures from google drive wasted because the drive is unrecoverable. Hopefully the next one is better. I didn’t drop it or do anything special to it, I just turned on my laptop and couldn’t add anything to it and the computer didn’t see it. Tried on multiple devices thinking it was my MacBook Air and none of the devices found it.

Seems to work smoothly. Used Passport technical support to guide me through setup.

I searched and it was in the top 10, never had this brand and the price was just right so I bought it. I’m a music producer and I have trillions of kits, 1 shots, etc, after loading up about 5gbs of music on it, I started hearing clicking noises, it’s a 2tb drive, no way this should be happening already.

Waste of money. Macs are extremely easy to use and this is second one I’ve had “Mac” specific, that needs to be returned.

It's only about 3in x 4.25in x 3/8in in size. It's so small and light, it's hard to believe it has 2TB of storage. I have a MacBook Pro and my husband has an iMac so this 2TB WD My Passport portable hard drive is perfect for us. We love to back up our computers on an external hard drive and then store it in a safe place away from the house. My Passport is so small and compact so it easily fits into our small safe deposit box. It also has plenty of storage with the 2TB so that it can be used for both. It took a few hours to back up both machines- we have a lot of photos and music. I would love to purchase another one to have with me at home so I can store all of my iTunes on there and have it easily accessible. The drive can easily fit into your bag, backpack or purse depending on how you store and transport your MacBook. I also appreciate that both USB cables were included since not everyone has a recent Mac. I recommend this WD - My Passport for Mac 2TB portable hard drive to anyone who has a Mac. It has a great value for the size and storage.

I've had this drive hooked up to my Macbook Pro, running Mojave, for about a week now. Setup was super easy. It was already formatted for the Mac so when I plugged it in, it was ready to go. Setup Time Machine to use it as a backup drive and let the backup commence. Backed up all of my data, a little under 600 GB, in about 3 hours. Drive got a little warm during use, but nothing out of the ordinary. Being a 2.5 inch form factor drive, there was no sound while the drive was in use, which was really nice. I've used the WD My Books in the past, but they can be a little noisy at times and take up way more space, so I appreciate the size and weight of this unit. It also draws its power from the USB cable, so you don't need external power like you would with the bigger drives. Not using the supplied encryption software as I rely on Time Machine's encryption for my backup drive. So far, so good. Thanks WD!!!
