Disc functions well, works automatically and is no trouble.

The WD My Passport is a great drive for your Mac devices, it comes ready to be used on any Mac device right out of the box. If you would like to use it on both Mac and Windows, it will require formatting but it is simple to do if you would like to use it on multiple devices. But, if you only plan on using it on your Mac devices it works right out of the box and is packed with tons of extra features to make your experience great.

This is a really well-built external drive that can fit anywhere! It is so slim and sturdy that I throw this on my school backpack without a case or protection and I don't worry about it getting damage. My only complaint is that I wish it was faster. Although it does connect through a USB-C port to my MacBook Pro, I wish it was a little faster. I used the external drive to back up my files with TimeMachin and it took about 2 hours to back up 145GB of memory. Overall, if you have the patience and don't need a lighting fast external drive, this will do the job!

The My Passport for Mac 2tB is an awesome little drive. Plug it into your Mac (or iPad Pro with iOS 13 coming in Sept 2019) and it fires right up allowing you extra storage. The small profile (it’s very compact) makes it perfect for frequent travelers. The inclusion of an USB C cable was a great addition for those with recent MacBooks. Overall, couldn’t be more happy with this drive.

It's a portable drive already formatted for MacOS, not much else to it. Smaller backups don't take very long, 6GB took maybe 15 mins. My other SSD backup does it a bit quicker, but since it is a passive action, the duration shouldn't really matter. I would avoid using WD's encryption. It works of course, but why bother when Time Machine has it built in? You can't unencrypt the disk without their utility already installed so you might as well stick to what MacOS offers, it's more streamlined.

Like any other hard drive from Western Digital, this works great right out of the box. Fast transfer rates from my USB-C Macbook Pro and the utility lets me manage both my My Cloud Home and this hard drive (as well as all other externally collected drives) in one easy-to-use Mac application. I highly recommend this hard drive!
